Scs blunder!

Today SCS delivered my new sofa and accent chair (also got an armchair which is perfect) As the delivery driver was unpacking the sofa I explained that it was the wrong couch as the one I ordered was a scatter back and not the straight back. Secondly I ordered light wood legs but the ones on this one were incorrect. Whilst there, I spoke to the online depo at SCS who stated that I should keep it (as I had no other one) but I was assured I would receive a new one (but couldn't say when exactly. Reluctantly I did as advised. After the delivery men left and upon closer inspection, I noticed that the accent chair was damaged and had poor workmanship in 3 seperate places. The manager has called me today to say that he would arrange for someone to contact me about inspecting the chair! Annoyingly stating he could not tell me when. I understand they have to be given the opportunity to do that so I've said that's ok. With regards to the sofa, they state that they will not send a new one as this is still the same base as the one I ordered but they will arrange to get the correct scatter back and legs sent to rectify the sofa. Whilst I'm not overly happy I just wondered how long I should reasonably be expected to wait before taking action. And what action that should be. At the moment I have been left with a sofa I didn't choose (it looks odd against my other new furniture and a chair that is damaged. I'm Fuming and upset. Should I also be asking for money off and how far can I take that?

You have a sofa that does not match your decor.

Not ideal but please put it in perspective. You have a sofa, and will get a new back and legs soon. You can use it as a sofa. What monetary value do you place on it 'looking odd'

You could have refused the delivery, but I imagine you would be more annoyed having no sofa than a slightly mismatched sofa?

They are going to look at your chair. Hopefully they will then sort it out. Again, give them chance. SCS aren't perfect but so far, not really seeing a HUGE issue.

I'd certainly not accept a repair to something that is new, you could get all sorts of colour matching problems. I would insist on everything being exchanged or a refund.

Talk to the manager again by phone or in person.

The fact that you'd happily put up with shoddy service and goods, doesn't mean that the OP should have to.
They delivered the wrong item, wrong legs, wrong back and the chairs are damaged. Slightly mismatched or not it's not what the OP ordered and they are right to be unhappy.
If it had me I would have not accepted it at all.
I would write to them giving them maybe a couple of weeks to rectify the problems, and escalate if they don't.

    For real?

you would accept something you hadnt ordered and another piece that is shoddy.

They should replace the whole sofa and chair and should also say when

No discount though as long as they do replace both

I wouldn't accept the chair that is damaged, however the sofa normally just has different cushions on the back - the feet just screw on so are easily replaced. Not a big issue.

I never said to accept a damaged chair. I said give them a chance to sort it out, which the OP has not.

With regards to the sofa it's not wrong as a whole, it has two wrong optional extras, which they have agreed to sort. Yes they got it wrong but I do not agree it's a 'how much money do I demand back' situation as indicated in the OP it's a decor issue.

I don't see putting up with mismatched feet as a compensatable offense.
  • Thanks for all of your replies. Firstly, let me tell you that since the delivery, every single item delivered (other than the footmuff) has one if not two workmanship errors. These range from bad stitching to damaged legs. I paid over £2000 for these items so yes I am annoyed that the sofa does not match the legs. Yes it is not a massive problem but why should I not be annoyed about this? After all wouldn't everyone want the exact items ordered. I have been dealing with a manager who has arranged an inspection of everything for next Monday. So I intend to argue for new items rather than just repairs. What I needed to know was whether I had to accept repairs as I understand on items such as this that was acceptable if that is what SCS say they will only do. As for demanding money back - why shouldn't I ask for this? After all I waited 4 months for the furniture (longer than the contract stated) and now I stuck with damaged items. Even if they replace it could still be another 3 months until I get the correct items. The money off issue is not priority for me I just want what I paid for.

Just stand your ground when he visits and tell him you will not accept repairs. You are entitled to a refund or replacement whichever you prefer.

Thankyou Zandoni. I will not accept repaired goods but I wasn't quite sure if I had to allow them a chance to repair. If I know I don't have to do this then it gives me more confidence in my argument.

You are entitled to a refund as you didn't have the goods for a reasonable amount of time.
