Much of outer London is greenbelt and so in the residential areas the population density will be comparable with inner London.

A few bits right at the outside of it are green belt, but it's absolutely not the case that most of the occupied parts of outer London are anywhere near as high density as central London.

    Green Belt for comparison...

My fathers company in 2008 had a team of guys ready to build, planning permission but the banks wouldn't lend, so he had to sack the lot and stop building.... multiply this across the country.

Why did your fathers Company need to borrow to build? If the profits made by the business had been reinvested rather withdrawn as remuneration then wouldn't have been as issue.

Many of the outer boroughs are covered significantly with greenbelt and other protected green spaces. map-3d-3.jpg

You know what they say about assumptions.... they make an .... A** of u and me....

Why do you assume that profits were not reinvested? And why do you assume that profits are instant? he was not selling chocolate bars! Part of the work of his company was with the MOD who were not the fastest organisation at paying their bills, and nor were lots of other struggling businesses at the time... Also, nobody knew the 2008 crash was going to happen.... so the business strategy was not set up to cope with it.
    Peace.

Why just debate about the problems? When the solutions could be worked out?

The three lowest density boroughs have the highest amount of green areas. It appears many boroughs are over 50% covered.

As you can see from this board there's some debate about whether building houses is the solution to a housing shortage to start with. There are folks that think it can be solved by reducing demand, stopping immigration, banning BTL, foreign investors, boomers hoovering up the wealth, second homers etc etc

On the the other side the NIMBY has a clear agenda - no new houses. There's a nimby in all of us - I'm all for new housing estates - as long as they're near you rather than me.

With hindsight many people would have done things differently. Bank bashing is often an excuse for other failings.

of course, you were invited a couple of times to give more info about your dad's business issues but chose not to do so.

I can fully understand you not wanting to discuss his business on an open forum, but them maybe best not to mention them atall.
