They do grow into things. The trick is remembering Where You Left them in the meantime.
Says she, rueful owner of two packs of shirts bought for eldest that even youngest can't squeeze into...

Oh & no more matching socks. I buy school socks by the kilo - if the two feet are different the child can spend the time playing "nearest shade of grey".

My mum bought me a skirt for senior school (we had to have regulation kilts) with the words 'You'll grow into it'

I haven't grown into it yet, and I'm 24... I think my growing days are done!
Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A
  • I like the "nearest shade of grey" game. We've played that a few times!

The "find one without a hole in" game's quite fun too! Applies to trousers too - I'm sure my girl does that "skidding on the knees" thing in the playground :)

  • My daughter used to chew her cuffs too. if you trun half the cuff up on the inside and hem it (like trousers. stitch where the cuff starts on the inside) no one will ever know the difference and you can use them again. I have a 9 year gap between my first and 2nd children but only 3.5 years during which I had the 2nd 3rd and 4th. They all get new shoes in september everything else is repaired and passed on. I too get a badged sweatshirt for photos etc and I get a size or so bigger. The last few are boys so wear and tear maybe worse but with my daughter at age 6 I bought her a 9 year old fitted ski jacket for the winter had velcro cuffs and covered her bottom, when she was 9 she didnt used the velcro tabs on the cuffs anymore and it sat nicley below her waist as it was fitted it didnt look huge or baggy at all.
Name tags tip my mum got ours made as S.LOW K My sister was K so she just folded back the initial she didnt want when sewing them on.
