  • Yeap, if you use your right foot alot you'll end up with
    A) 5mpg
    B) no licence
    C) not making it to your destination!!

On a tank you'll get 30 mpg with careful driving - you need those more effient mpg drives to get it though.

Well, just incase anybody wondered, I ended up with a 2007 Mazda 3 MPS Aero. Quite an amazing car. Ferocious is the word I first thought when I drove it.

Lovely car though, can cruise along in 6th gear getting 40-60 mpg quite easily to make up for the quicker moments. So, very easy and calm to drive when you want it (when the LO is in the car).

Thanks for all your suggestions, it made me look at cars I would never have thought of.

These do look like a real bargain but the talk of vvt's and timing chains going kaputt and engine rebuilds puts me right off. I've read in various places that all mps's need it fixing at some point. Google it for more details.

  • Thanks, yes, I checked on that before buying. The VVT and chain were replaced in 2012 so all good on that front (I hope!), no noises and chain is nice and tight after running 1 min + as it should be.
