Fear of expensive insurance claim restricts travel
Comments
-
I am always suspicious of travel insurance companies and have doubts that they will pay up. I have just had to put in a modest claim for a gastroenteritis episode during a trip to Turkey (cross fingers). I find that these fears put me off risking any trip to countries like the USA. If something were to happen and the insurers refused to cover it, I would be completely stuck. Does anyone else find that similar concerns prevent them from visiting some countries outside the EU?
Read the insurance policy before buying it. If the policy clearly says that they will pay for something, then they will. If the terms are vague, or a particular risk is not covered, they are not obliged to pay, but may do so sometimes. Do remember that cheapest is highly unlikely to be best or even best value, and you need far more detail than you can find in a 'best buy' table or even a de facto rating.0
