Grr to roofer.1

That's what I said.
Or words to that effect...1 -
Life is much easier when you dot need to chase people up for things they should be doing already. That kind of thing really annoys me!
Hope you manage to find a roofer, any word of mouth recommendations?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!1 -

OMG, just given myself such a shock. Sat down to do an SOA and drew a blank on where our money is going.
Tallied up credit card statements from last 4 months - I am shocked by what is being spent on groceries
I'm too embarrassed to admit to the figure here
I include toiletries, cleaning, food, alcohol in the figure and I have had a few large Costco shops which won't all have been for me as I buy for my family and work colleagues.
On the flip side of that my OH will quite often buy the wine for a Friday night on his credit card so I am not including that and I know there are some spend on my Tosco credit card which I haven't added in yet
Time for a proper spending diary I think :cool:1 -
On the plus side £62.25 OPd which is half my recent expenses for fuel, total OP this month is £140.85, all from "free" money.
Forecast to have £38 in bank at end of month and £50 in cash so should be okay.
Should get good paycheck at end of July so hope to move a chunk to offset then.1 -
Our problem spend is groceries too. I'm trying to get it down to £150/wk, so you can have a guess at what it's been up until now! :P (I'm not saying either....)
I really need a couple of 'normal' months to figure out where my budget's at.Mortgage when started: £330,995

That's exactly it, I do Costco shops which skew things because I stock up on a year's worth of washing liquid for example.
So I really need to analyse the spend to see what is food, cleaning, toiletries, alcohol etc and then understand what is a "normal" budget for us. Then reduce it1 -
Groceries seem to have become so much more expensive in the last few years...or maybe I am just old!1

We are currently at £40-£50/week for 3 of us and in addition about £150 per year on loo rolls etc. that includes all work lunches and we eat really well. This doesn't include alcohol as miniOCC has mainly closed that avenue of pleasure as it's just not worth it when you have to deal with a small person first thing! The key is to meal plan and avoid the top up shop as much as possible I think.1
