Awesome shots! My favourite view out of a plane window was the first time we went to Vegas, and we landed at night, and all the strip was lit up, it was jaw dropping!

just to add turbulance is not something to worry about, its just like having bumps in the road.
take off is the best, i get so upset when i dont get a window seat because i wont be able to see the plane take off!

Personally I love flying and I love looking out of the window on take off and landing too.

It's hard to say how you'll react OP as everyone is different. But like has already been said, take some sweets to suck to try and stop your ears from popping, take a book or magazines or an Ipad to keep you occupied.

Also, not so much on your flight as it's only a two hour one, but on long haul, I always take a neck pillow so I can try and get some sleep....although I never have yet. :(

Get up and walk and stretch your legs every so often too.

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Flying is brilliant! I really do hope you enjoy it. Remember that all the noises are supposed to be there, it means everything is working as it should. You can tell the cabin crew that it's your first flight and that you're a bit nervous. They'll help you relax as well.

Buy a bottle of water after you've gone through security, then you'll have something to sip. Arrive at the airport in plenty of time before your flight, so you won't have the worry of being late or getting lost. If the airport is fairly close to you and you have time before your trip, go to the airport for a look and to familiarise yourself with it. Find the check-in desks (if you need them), where the entrance to security is etc. Everything is signed clearly, but it can be a bit confusing if you're a bit nervous and there are lots of people around.

Wherever you're going have a wonderful time :)
  • Good point trolleyrun. Airport security checks are a pain in the..
When I travel, I put all my liquids - everything - into the checked luggage. No deo, (spray or roll-on) toothpaste, creams, drinks, anything that is on their list comes with me through security.
There are plenty of shops selling water, they give out lots of drinks on the longer flights, I am sure someone will put up a link of what is restricted through that security.

I read once that you have more chance of being killed by a donkey than you have in a plane crash. Oddly enough I found this statistic reassuring whenever I have been on an aeroplane
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Hmm. I'm barred from flying for medical reasons and my neighbours have a couple of donkeys.

I do not find this reassuring!

    :rotfl:

OP, flying is fine. I love it. I used to fly a lot as a kid without my parents, and wanted for a while as a kid to be an airhostess. My advice is to dress in comfortable clothing that can be easily adapted to different temperatures. Someone mentioned a travel pillow, I used to tend to wear a wrap I can ball up in one corner to double as a pillow and a blanket, and then wear on chilly evenings if needed. Wear the bulkiest most comfortable shoes you plan on taking is my other advice, e.g. Your sight seeing walking shoes.

My first flight I was dizzy and a bit sick for 3 hours, it wasn't pleasant! I've got used to it since then although i'll never enjoy it like some other people do, and I would never fly for pleasure..

"Although it's statistically safer than driving etc, I'm always a little aware of the danger when I fly"

What danger??? Are you also aware of the danger when you go on a car (MUCH higher) , walk down the street or so some DIY? Seems a silly thing to say IMO, flying is one of the safest things you can do.

I've never been on a plane before and I'm terrified. It's only a 2 hour flight, but I'm terrified I'll hate it and be stuck there for 2 hours. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Thanks

    What's it like?

    Boring, totally boring.

Take a book or a Kindle.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
