You can't make calls via WhatsApp. If you press the "Call" button at the top of your WhatsApp messages with a particular contact, it makes a conventional phone call
I don't use it any more but I thought that WhatsApp version 4 allowed you to make calls ?

The latest iOS version of WhatsApp is 2.11.8 and it doesn't allow you to make VOIP calls. It is therefore unlikely that the version for another OS would allow this either. However, it is definitely planned and in the pipeline.

No, I've just checked both iOS and Android, neither have a VOIP call function and more importantly, BOTH give a warning that a cellular call will be made when you touch "call".

This is total nonsense posted on a third party site. The latest version of WhatsApp is 2.11.8 for iOS and 2.11.238 for Android.

Why would O2 warn you? They make the most money outside of your included allowance. Surely anyone can see that!

OP: the cost would already have been incurred long before they could warn you, since billing is not received from the roaming provider in real time. It can take hours or days to come back to 02.
And because Turkey is not in the EU, you would not have received any warning texts, nor would your daily billing have been capped.
And, since you turned data off, (or thought you had) what use would warning emails have been?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thats a shame then ..... if it's not yet been released it was never going to work that way for the OP in the first place

I remember the news reports earlier in the year saying it was going to launch after being bought by FB and assumed it had :o
