I am prepared to take any job offered , have been on jsa for over 12 months now with not one offer of job from job centre .I am not just sitting around waiting for them to offer me something either .The advisors do nothing , they should just get rid of all them and just have a few at each job centre for people who feel they need to speak with them .
OK, so what you have done so far has not worked.
Have you worked out why? Are you going to keep doing the same thing, or have you a plan to fix what's going wrong?0 -
You think 15K is too much. HA! In the same vain then are bankers worth more than soldiers, are bus drivers worth more than soldiers.
To ther employers, yes. This is generally because the skills are rarer, and can produce far greater returns for the employer, resulting in something of a bidding war for those that the banks believe can make the difference...
It's never a good idea to conflate moral worth (whatever that is) with earnings. Pay is not decided by how nice you are.0 -
My understanding is that the WP is for those who have been in receipt of income-based JSA for 12 months. They can then be referred to a WP provider in their area. It was previously for those on JSA for 2 years+.
A couple of posters were mixing up different schemes wg the Mandatory Work Activity [the one the Government lost on in Court several times and had to send out new letters and then amend the law retrospectively].Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -

Also on a side note i'm getting a bit sick of hearing how public sector worker are paid so much. Public Sector workers are not paid extortionate amounts compared to the private sector, there are no golden pensions anymore etc. This is all dross span by the likes of the Daily Mail.[/QUOTE]
The ONS stats are that public sector pay is now higher than private sector pay. Although a factor to take into account is outsourcing ie many thought of as public sector jobs are now in the private sector. But if you don't believe high public sector pay, just look up how many Council employees earn £50-150k pa!Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. Companies like G4S, Serco, CAPITA are all too happy to take multi million pound contracts from local government but no one lays into them about pay, fraud, miss spend money etc.
You are correct that council workers are not paid a great deal and are unfairly targeted, however there are other issues than just certain high profile contracts; you forget to mention the externally contracted Project Managers, who seemingly deliberately c*ck up time and time again whilst deflecting the blame to the company doing the work, to the tune of anything up to £150,000 a year - probably to extend the contract length as long as possible and milk the council for all they are worth.
I believe people do lay in to G4S, they have been a high profile target for the past few years.
Councils takes the decision to spend money on a contract, no company can force a contract on a Council. If the Council deems the value of a contract too high, shouldn't they turn around and decline?
Just an aside, where I work, we don't charge what I believe are extortionate rates, the marketplace doesn't allow for it as it's competitive. But local government do sometimes take the mickey with what they are "willing" to pay or what they deem as "realistic", when in reality they haven't a clue what it takes to get something accomplished behind the scenes. Also, the constant changing of scope (often for free) on projects can also cause them to go well over the amount of time or service paid for.Professional Data Monkey

I just feel like this as most of the advisor's I have met have been clueless .I heard an advisor telling someone the other day that you are not entitled to free dental care while on jsa .I manged to speak to the lady after and told her she is entitled .
They can't be that clueless if they have managed to get a job ...

Er, nope.
For most people you are eligible after 1 year of whatever flavour JSA (i.e. people who have had 6 months CB and 6 months IB, or people who have had 12 months IB). But there are variations for younger people, people who are sick or disabled, people with criminal records, people in receipt of pension credit, people who are homeless or have drug or alcohol problems.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
