Great advice. Let's all go and sign on with the Job Centre, and claim human rights every time they ask us to do anything. That way we can get away with our free money without doing absolutely anything; because anything we do infringes on our human rights.

And the job centre have every right to sanction you if you don't comply with their rules.

Let's just hope that you aren't one of those who protect their own rights zealously, but then complain loudly when others do the same...

Has your awkwardness helped you into work so far?

So being naive and doing everything they say without question would be better ?That may be how you deal with things but not me .

It may be currently, but I know they are romping up the stakes very quickly and this could change tomorrow. They are now SET on getting people into voluntary work, as the statistics have shown people quickly get jobs when faced with a 9-5 unpaid job.

This is a "Statistic" straight out of the Daily Mail. Someting tell me you are one of these 'hard working tax payers' (Yuk, hate it when people say this).

No, it's not how I deal with things at all. If I had to follow rules to get benefits, and wanted those benefits, then I'd follow the rules, but I'd separately do what was needed to find work on my own.

I spent a little while out of work seven years ago, and had a face to face meeting at the job centre at the beginning. They asked what jobs I'd consider, and I told them it had to be a banking job, on six figures, as anything else would damage my CV too much, and I was not willing to do it. They told me that they'd accept this, but that I had six months, and after that would have to take the first job offered that I could do, and I said that this was more than fair.

    Their money, their rules.

Yes, so let's let the public decide what happens at the Jobcentre. I guarantee that the majority of the country will vote for tighter and stricter rules than there currently is. So, perhaps the people running the country wouldn't work so well after all.

I guarantee that the majority of daily mail readers will vote for tighter and stricter rules than there currently is.

There you go, corrected it for you.

Unless of course if you have evidence of what you are guaranteeing.

Yes, but this does not mean that you get the right to simply demand your own choice of benefits irrespective of fulfilling the necessary conditions.

In case you've forgotten, too, I'm also part of the electorate, and am not keen on people still being paid a benefit when they do not qualify for it.
