Customer satisfaction or Cheap

Is the main criterion for a recommendation on MSE 'Cheap'?
I subscribe to Which? and while I would admit that they are not as up to date as MSE, they do take into account the service provided and the level of customer satisfaction for any products or services reviewed.
MSE seem to recommend companies or products with terrible reviews as long as they are cheap.
I'm sure most of us have been around the block enough times to realise that cheapest is not necessarily best and can often in the long term prove to be the most expensive.
I apologise if this subject has been covered previously on the forum but I couldn't find it.

It does seem to be that "cheap" is better than "good" on this site. Martin especially likes to encourage people to trade down groceries to cheaper options, but never suggests to trade up to better options.0

Hi!
Our focus is on finding you the best price but we also include customer service feedback from polls, forum discussions and other social media.
A good example is our Cheap Broadband guide.
