Evening all, I have just about recovers from the hockey shinanegans,
the doctors assured me that my vision should return to normal after about 3-6 months thanks to the pilchard margaritas and the bruise on my foot from Hubert's dancing shouldn't affect my future in pole. :D
Well, yesterday was #15,and with any luck,I'll get one today.

Having totted up this last month's free-and-easy spending on the credit card (which I always pay off in full),I have surmised that for the next few months it'll be a bread and water diet for little, old moi.:eek::eek:

Joining you on that diet marmite i paid off our holiday :A but also means it left me somewhat poor, so although I was well in budget last month (pay day today) the holiday swallowed all that up. Still at least it's all paid off.

At the moment I seem to be leaking spends like a holey bucket. There always seems to be something on the list. Part of it I think is because I just want to get some things round the house sorted, so £20 on a tin of paint it was today  on the way I popped into L!dl (new one opened in our town :j) for a French stick for lunch (hm egg mayo with salmon) and also ended up getting some cod steaks for £1.70 on offer. I MUST tighten those purse strings.

No wonder we lost the hockey, Hubert was drawing everyone's attention away from the job in hand!

Don't know if I can call today yet...its 4.23pm, I haven't been outside in over 8 hours, I am not currently allowed to open my office window due to scaffolders, we do not have air conditioning and therefore I am close to melting...a soon to follow hour sitting in an airless tin can of a train may push me over the edge into...I NEED AN ICE CREAM!! Or at least a drink with Ice in, ...which I realise can be free by the wonders of an ice tray and a freezer...but alas we have no space in our freezer for such a tray due to all the food...and I thought it was so clever to be stocked up...idiot! :wall:

One idea I saw is to cut up lemons too and freeze those, then you get lemon and ice in your drink all at once.
In some ways I wish things were simple again. Does anyone really enjoy going in a shop (physically or online) and being confronted with 45 different bottles of shampoo, for example? Or 6 different brands of tinned tomatoes? Or 50 different packets of breakfast cereal? Anyone else find so much choice exhausting?

My mission, then, is to reduce the amount of shopping I do, and I have today placed my first Approved Foods order for storecupboard stuff.

And that, in a longwinded round the houses kind of way, is why today will not be a NSD.

Tell me about it, not only that, but I will go to four shops to check out the best deal if I haven't or couldn't check on MS - like Savers for instance isn't listed. Sometimes it's both overwhelming and exhausting.

So, looking ahead to July's challenge.....what happens in July? St Swithins Day on 15th, whatever the weather on that day, that is the weather for the next 40 days. So, a raindance theme? Or a hot summer barbecue ice cream sort of theme? Tea and croquet on the lawn with cucumber sandwiches and Pimms? Or a school holiday theme - think Alice Cooper and "School's Out for Summer"? A seaside, candyfloss and bucket and spade theme?
Or, seeing as the month was named after Julius Caesar, a Romans and Gladiators theme? I can just imagine Igor's take on traditional Roman dishes....stuffed dormouse, anyone?

That was my maternal Grandmother's birthday. And the following day is DS2's birthday (my Mum gave me major - but light-hearted - grief for not having him a couple of hours earlier than I did, as he'd then have been on 15th).

According to my diary, 12th is the commemoration of the Battle of Boyne in Northern Ireland (324 years ago). Not sure we should mention this one to Igor, as he may want to re-enact it

It's also the start of the holiday season, with the kids in England breaking up from school mid-month (I know Scotland are usually a lot earlier, but don't know about Wales or elsewhere).

I'm away from 6th until 19th, killing myself with some major walking trips in the Lakes!! I'm solo until 11th, when OH is heading up to join me as soon as he finishes his night shift at 6am (so I'll still be solo for a walk that day as he'll be sleeping). And then the last Saturday we're off to Liverpool for the day, as the giant puppets are back - we went in 2012 and they were brilliant. But this time we're taking his niece (almost 4) and my 2 elder GDs (9, and 9 days shy of 11), so there'll be 3 girls sharing a bedroom in my house on the Friday and Saturday - sounds like the chance of OH and I getting much sleep is pretty slim then :rotfl: I'm also hanging onto my GDs for Sunday night, and taking them out on the Monday to get them some sturdy trainers (suitable for some lightweight walking in the Lakes from 4th August) before returning them to their mother.

I do that *smiles proudly* except with lime - because lemon should only be seen in lemonade, most everything else deserve lime x

I have lime in Corona and lemon in Crabbies Ginger Beer. Tbh I'm not a massive lemonade fan (unless its traditional cloudy, or pink, or with a retro Martini :D) and don't drink much else other than tea in the house (or the odd vino) I froze lemons after having a load left over from a L!dl deal, they're handy when you need juice for cooking - express thaw in a bowl of warm water. no use for zesting though.

    And today was NSD #17

I couldn't have gone out spending (or even not spending) even if I'd wanted to - had to wait in until my passport was delivered, and was told it'd be between 9am and 5pm! Got a text yesterday morning informing me they'd "just" tried but no-one was in, and with a tracking number. Website informed me they'd left a card, but there was nothing in my mailbox. So I phoned, and it turned out 'just' meant 2:30pm on Monday - but I was still in then, and still didn't have a card. Not sure where they tried to leave it, but the chap on the phone informed me I have a green front door - which I don't. An explore up the estate turned up one green door, but not only is it the wrong street it's also a number 1 instead of 5 (with a clear - and huge - number ON the door!!!) I know some delivery chaps have trouble finding me 'cos I'm a bit tucked away, so I gave them notes on how to get here, and it actually turned up just after 1pm :D

I now need to research travel out for my Camino (and options for coming back, though I don't want to pre-book that unless I can get something with flexibility instead of fixed dates), so I've got an expensive spend day coming up in the next month or so

Have to admit I'm having a bit of a wobble about heading out just now, given my Dad's possible stroke last Friday. Clearly need to sort out travel insurance that will refund anything I've paid out for if I have to cancel due to his health, but also need to make sure they won't refuse to pay given the recent scare..... Already got problems because most policies only cover up to 30 days and I'm looking for 60 :o
