I think your being more than reasonable and wish you well with your claim / complaint. I really hope that it gets rectified for you and you get the holiday you wish for in the end.

Well my wife received a phone call this morning from LCH (first time they've rung us) to inform us that they will cancel the original flights to Luxor at no charge and will take me up on my proposal of paying the difference for flights to Sharm El Sheik at £860 (based on price of flights 2 or 3 weeks ago). They have even rearranged the meet and greet at Gatwick in line with our new flight times.

I am so, so, so relieved. Personal note to self: do your research next time!

By the way the lady who phoned us said LCH have been aware of the glitch in the system for some time and keep meaning to get round to fixing it.

Thanks to all those that helped.

Delighted that you are delighted, but still £860 out of pocket. Let this be a warning to all those who use agents who allow you to DIY, check everything before committing and think carefully about which company to use before you use them

It's still annoying that you have had to pay out for something that wasn't really your fault, however at least you're getting a holiday that you wanted at last. Thanks for keeping us updated.
