You could use the wonderful research Alan provided in order to persuade your card provider to implement a cash-back.

Yes, that's what I was thinking.

To me this is clearly a LCH error.
And it is to me too.
Despite how little a customer knows about a destination, any decent website would never bring you up flights to one destination and then hotels in another which is nowhere near where the flight lands and that you have to then pick up another flight to get to.
Its just offered me a flight (via Islanbul) to Cairo and hotels in Sharm.
Contact them on facebook - search for lowcostholidays and it will bring it up.
    Twitter - @lowcostholidays
Seriously, don't give up! Email their CEO if need be!

Oh, and there is no longer a ferry between Safaga/Hurghada and Sharm but Egypt Air do fly directly. You would have a 4hr road transfer to Hurghada and then pick up the daily direct flight which leaves about 9.45am and takes about 15 mins. They only load this flight a week or so in advance of the flight though so no point in looking for it now. Sometimes they cancel it without much warning too.

It would be more reasonable to give LCH an opportunity to resolve things first.

I thought I would provide an update to the holiday situation I find myself in.

We spent a week phoning LCH who were only interested in applying cancellation and admin fees for the flights. The total fees would equal the amount of the flights so was not really an option for us. Phoning LCH is an experience in itself. It was very hard to get connected to a call centre agent. Most times there was an automated voice saying they are experiencing heavy volume of calls and then just cut us off. On the occasions we did get through the call centre agent would say they would get back to us but never did.

We ended up taking legal advice. Under LCH T&Cs they voluntarily offer the flight and hotel and other services as a package holiday and therefore bookings fall under the Package Tours Regulations 1992. The solicitor felt strongly that there was a clear breach of contract whatever the general consensus is about who is at fault for the error (airport in Luxor, hotel in Sharm) as to get from Luxor to Sharm would require additional cost and time. Also the T&Cs stipulate that we have 48 hours to notify LCH of any errors in the booking which we did.

We have now written to LCH to rectify the situation. We have given them 3 options: 1) a full refund 2) find us a hotel in Luxor to same standard and amenities and 3) book us new flights to Sharm and we'll pay difference at the prices advertised a fortnight ago (the legal advice was for LCH to incur the cost in full). A unsatisfactory response will lead to a County Court claim in the UK. LCH T&Cs state that their T&Cs are subject to UK law which means we do not have to apply to a Spanish court.

Phoning Thomson was a waste of time as they would only liaise with LCH since they booked the flights.

We're now awaiting a response from LCH. Will keep you informed.

Good luck - hope you manage to get something sorted.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

A holiday in Luxor will not be a beach holiday if that's what you wanted, you can see the Tombs and Temples but that's about it, unless you want the extra expense of a Nile cruise, I wouldn't have offered that as a option.

LCH were unable to offer us any hotels in Luxor in the first place. I need to show I am being reasonable. :-)
