is it just butlins that is being put down here?
every single holiday i've taken, i've stayed in 4-5 star hotels...
i've always left my laptop lying around - always thinking the hotel is reputable and therefore i should have nothing to worry about...?0 -
No, take a tablet and keep it with youBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Having worked at all of the main providers of this type of holiday I will repeat what they tell all staff when employed at the centres ,
" Thieves also go on Holiday " all the camp resorts have a policy of "it don't happen here " and " the customer is never right "
Personally , would not take anything of value you cannot afford to lose while away ! Example : we take an old Nokia brick type phone instead of our iphone , can make calls and receive them , job done !
Do not envy your decision !!

It shouldn't be.
I've taken my MacBook numerous times to Center Parcs (and various European hotels), and it's never disappeared, however the risk is purely on my travel insurance paying out, not on whoever I'm staying with.
I've known of burglaries at a number of the holiday camps (although I only use the one mentioned above, maybe 2-3 times a year), so it's unfair to put the blame only on one.every single holiday i've taken, i've stayed in 4-5 star hotels...

We had a hotel room broken into when I was recently in Copenhagen (not mine, but the room of another team)
I don't know what was stolen (and it's none of my business), but surely the hotel can't be to blame in these circumstances, unless it was obvious these were thieves.💙💛 💔0 -
Break ins happen. Opportunistic thefts happen...anywhere not just Butlins. You could be in a 5 star hotel...the cleaner opens your door to clean your room and is busy in the bathroom cleaning then a thief walks by the room and sees your iPad on the desk and swipes it. Nobody would know who took it.
If you can't bear to lose it then carry it with you or lock it in a safe. You'll need to upgrade to Deluxe or Gold to get a safe in the room.
If you have your car lock it in the car somewhere out of sight.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Because most basic policies only cover individual items up to a value of £100 or £200. If you claim for a £400 iPad you'll get £200 less any excess, so you could end up with enough for a Galaxy Tab. Which would suck.
So if you want your Ipad covered make sure you check the fine print.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Why on earth should Butlins have insurance. It's your property and your responsibility.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
We go to haven and take laptop iPad etc. When we out we make sure they are hidden out of sight of any windows though.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

That is true, if I got broken into in my own house it is my responsibility BUT the police would be involved and investigate (yes it is highly unlikely I would get my items back) but a least something would be done and it could be reported, at bullins (and I suspect all resorts) nothing is done its just shoved under the carpet!
In fact when my house was burgled the police put leaflets in neighbouring properties not only asking them if they had seen anything but warning them burglars were operating in the area.0 -
It is your laptop, so your responsibility. Why should Butlin's or any hotel have to cover for you? Buy specialist insurance if it means that much to you.
Just don't be silly with it. Don't flounce into Butlins with a laptop bag on full display, keep curtains closed when using it, don't sit on balcony using it. In effect, don't flaunt it that you have brought a laptop.
Failing that, buy a laptop lock, so it is harder to nick.
