Lots of ridiculous advice about borrowing money from your family to pay payday loans. Ignore it.

Stop paying all debts except those essential ones like rent, council tax and utilities.

What are they gonna do? Send you letters. When they send you letters you rip them up without reading them.

Getting stressed out and borrowing from your family will likely make things worse for your family.

Think about your family first, not payday loan companies.

Get a new bank account and start fresh.

Regarding the calls, you could write to your creditors now asking them to remove your work number. If they need a number, get a free PAYG sim on your current network and give em that number. You can then check it when you want.

I just worry about them phoning work more than anything else, as this could be the real spanner in the works rather than falling behind with my debts.

My family will always come first over these vultures, but i really need to get out of this immediate debt straight away as i am struggling to even very basically live now.

Will this work though? i hear that company's still phone you, is their a law/act they have to abide by?

Yeah good idea about sim card, will order one immediately and give debtors this number.

  • and, even more ridiculous is the debt charity that didn't clearly, set a reserve or educate someone about building an emergency reserve? no?

Begging SC - forget that - you ask them to re-assess you and question them as to how come you have ended up in this position OP

To many think it is an easy way to just blame PDL's the charity should have done more IMVPO

Yes i completely agree mattye, it is very hard to accept that i will not be able to make the repayments on everything.

Im hoping to get money to pay back my ps4 and then sell that, as i have a week to find the money to pay my gf.

Then i can get on to step change after the bank holiday and see what they say about adding new debts to dmp. And if they throw me off then i will have to go it alone. My only worry about that is if my creditors start to phone me at work then this will really jeopardize my job, my boss was not pleased with the amount of calls coming in before my dmp, so for it to start again could be disastrous.

Im relying on selling my ps4 this week as i will not have ANY money for shopping otherwise....

Do you and your gf live together? If so then paying her back is going to make you struggle and then you'll both suffer, just like you'll both suffer if you don't pay her.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pay her if you can, just that you shouldn't get blindsighted and make that your only concern.

The OFT's guidance on debt collection says that debt collectors must listen to debtors' reasonable requests of when, where and how to contact them, so if you tell them not to contact you at work, they should listen. Tell them firmly and make sure they know that you're aware of the guidance.

You can't rely on selling your PS4 if you have no money to buy it back. This is where your problems are coming from. You need a plan that can actually work.

Is there anything you can sell?

Under the old OFT guidelines, they have to reasonably respect your communication preferences. Guess the FCA have something similar.

You could also tell them that you only deal in writing and to remove all numbers, but giving them one will make them more likely to do it.

If they don't, send them a complaint letter.

I see your point about emergency reserve, i was not told anything about doing so really. I think i am the only too blame for this mess though as SC have been nothing short of brilliant since i started with them.

I do not blame the PDL's either, they are providing a service that i signed up for.

I must pay her as she will have no other way of funding her bills this month.

Ok i will get a letter typed up and get this sent to my creditors ASAP. I must do this as really do not want to be going down that road!!!

Fortunately in the last few mins, my mate has said he will lend me most of the money to get ps4 back, just need to find 20 quid now to cover all.

Not really got much else i can sell tbh, already been through all that last year :(
