My daughters partner comes from a family where they all have their own homes and that's what he's aiming for, he doesn't want to go into social housing unless it's absolutely necessary.

Hiya, i like the family living together if peaceful.
It saves a lot on bills - one fridge, 1 washing machine and 1 cooker.
Ok not what you were asking....
Move the toddler to a small child size bed.
Invest in a wardrobe with handles you could put a small chain through and padlock.
High shelfs are also good until the child starts to climb and pulls the lot on top of him/her.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0
