Help! I seem to have 'lost' IE!

I had Internet Explorer, and now I don't seem to have it anymore.
I am not sure what happened- I cleaned the keyboard with a cloth, I didn't think I clicked any keys but I must have done because now all I get is a white maximised screen- I had to click the esc to make the page shrink.
Currently, to the top of the page I can see the X to close the page and the house/star/circular tool icon but none work when I click on them, not right or left click.
Below this I can see what used to be my tool bar, all the Google stuff including a long list of favorites has gone. I have tried right-clicking, nothing. Left clicking on any of the icons there also doesn't do very much but bring up a list on one or two of the icons for example to go to my home-page but it makes no difference to select this: the page stays blank.
If I type anything into the address bar, also nothing happens.
At the moment I am using Chrome. But I need IE because at times there are things I need IE for.
I have tried closing the page and reopening it but it makes no difference.
How do I get it back again?!

system restore to a date when you still had it?0

Not sure what you did OP but maybe give this a try, a system restore might be an option.0

Yep I'd definitely try a Restart. And certainly try it before you start doing System Restore or anything like that. But have you tried rebooting the computer?
Which version of Windows is it?
What happens if you press these two keys at the same time <Windows>+<R>
and then when a dialog box saying Run pops up, you type in "iexplore.exe" and press enter?
The <Windows> key is the one with the Windows 'flag' symbol on it, probably somewhere just to the left of the space bar.0 -

It was as far as I was aware version 11 (the current version).
I have tried to uninstall it but it doesn't even appear on my installed list- yet has an icon and if I try to install it from the Microsoft site I am told it already exists!0 -
If I press the Windows button and the R key I get the internet page up for IE but same as before, its just blank with all the icons at the top (but no tool bar) and none of the icons work besides one -but all the options are greyed out.0

I have been trying to see if I can uninstall IE but it doesn't seem to appear on my programmes list. Would it be called anything else but Internet Explorer does anyone know?0
