Swoggi penny auction site or scam?

The old sayings ' a fool and his money are soon parted' and if something looks too good to be true it is very relevant here. Everyone who has been caught followed the bait and parted with their cash as a result of reading their Computer screen. Did they think once to check out the details of this firm and their offer on the same screen.
All threy had to do was put in the search box IS SWOGGIE A SCAM, AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SAFE.
There are those who are convinced that because a number of people have indicated that ,they will get an expensive item for pennies. Total B/S
In future never, never buy anything on line without first checking if the firm is safe or at least knowing the Company concerned has a decent track record. When the appreciation letters appear along with the selling message it is worth while treating the entire thing with caution.
in other words Run like hell.:eek:0 -
SWOGGI CONNED ME OF £250. Through PayPal who refused to do anything and are still dealing with. The scammers 😡0

Nearly lost £58 with these shysters!
Through boredom and flicking online the ad popped up so I thought I'd have a look. Didn't search em up - mistake!
But after paying £58 via PayPal I got directed to their site, had a look at the live auctions and quickly worked out this isn't what I thought it would be.
Within a few hours I emailed them back saying I wanted a refund - they say they will respond within 24hours - which they did, stating they would only refund me £43 as there was an £15 admin fee! And I should confirm this via email.
That got my goat up and I did what I should of done before I started and searched them. I came to this forum and read through And came across this from Chris BeeI went down this road myself, they tried to stop me the £15 admin charge which incidently after I complained bitterly to paypal they agreed to give the £15 to me as a good will gesture if I could only get £43 of my premium back. However I wrote this email to Swoggi and in the end they refunded the entire amount to me. Below is a copy of the letter :-
Hi,
I am claiming my entire amount of money back £58 under the consumer contract regulations 2013, whereby the consumer (me) is allowed a cooling off period before the contract with the supplier (you) is sealed, and as I cancelled my contract within 15 minutes of opening it I am well within the laid down criteria. Therefore the made up regulations your company has produced have no meaning as the company cannot supercede the law of the land. so therefore cut to the chase and refund my £58 please and lets put the matter to bed. For your information the consumer contract regulations 2013 LEGAL REQUIREMENT STATES :- You can cancel a contract on line within 14 days of entering into it, and you can expect a FULL REFUND within 14 days of cancelling the online goods or services contract.
Thank you.
I hope that this may help somebody else. GOOD LUCK.
So I emailed them back using what Chris had written as a template.
I got no reply!!
I emailed them the same email as previous but added that should I not receive a full refund within 24 hours I would report them to the police for online theft/ fraud
Within a few hours the money was paid back to my PayPal in full - although it's in the pending payments ( got to get their measly bit of interest)
cheers Chris Bee :beer:0 -
I think there is another name to add to the list of the scammy sites Wellbid, another one to avoid as it appears to be a clone of Swoggi and madbid.
Please stay away and stay safe, lets not let these scumbags get another penny from any of us.

Thank you all for your warnings. I am sorry so may of you have been scammed. You have however all helped me today as I came across Swoggi advertised on MSN and thought I would give it ago. I thought it sounded too good to be true so I came on here to find out if anyone had used it. Your warnings have saved me getting my fingers burnt so thank you and I hope you all get your hard earned money back from these scammers.0

My first knowledge of Swoggi came from a blog from none other than Martin Lewis, founder of MSE.
Martin's experience was favourable having successfully won on 2 out of 2 bids. He did point out that your chance of winning increases significantly when you are bidding for less popular items e.g food blender rather than Iphone 7.
However - that does not seem to be an experience shared by the majority of forum members. On that basis I think I will avoid Swoggi. and any similar bid sites
Remember one thing - If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.0 -
