Swoggi penny auction site or scam?

Swoggi is advertised on the Daily Express website today under 'promoted - Money Expert' and with the picture of an Apple ipad and the words 'leftover ipad stocks worth £619 selling for under £40'.
Clicking on their link takes you to www2.expert360.com which is, of course, a ploy to lure you in to their auction site and NOT a site which is 'selling' ipads at all. It is auctioning them.
I clicked on the link via the Express because it said 'Money Expert' and I instantly assumed it was an article by Martin. As soon as I saw the website address I knew it was dodgy. Fact is, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!0 -
I was taken in by this, but got all my money back through Paypal yesterday. Am happy to tell anyone how to do it.0

So not only is Swoggi scamming consumers they are also in cahoots with (or own?) a site which is passing itself off as this one. Trading Standards should get this site and any associated sites shut down immediately. I was scammed for £50 and I don't expect to get it back. I just wished I had come on here first to check them out. They are nothing better than pickpockets they way their Paypal checkout works - you don't honestly know you have paid anything, let alone how much. Martin - please talk about these sites next time you are on the radio or TV. In the meantime I am launching a complaint with the OFT.
I only came across Swoggi the other day after seeing it promoted on TV. The presenter was testing out whether it was really to good to be true.. However she concluded it was good and had managed to bag some decent products.. That's when I signed up... However.. Luckily I still had slight reservations about the legit of this site so did not buy any credits.. Since then I've had numerous emails offering great deals and bonus credits.. Today I decided to look up any reviews from real people and I am sooo glad that I did, and u have confirmed what my gut was telling me! that's why sites like these are in valuable.
I am so sorry to read others have been caught.. And as for the post about free credits but being charged.. Surely there is a case there for fraud.. I mean if a shop said free and then charged fifty pounds... Well there would be a court case ... I think these type of sites are prying on a vulnerable society... it makes me sick! And to use media to promote a positive side as a way to reach even more of us! 😡😡
To all those who have been caught out... Fight back don't let them get away with it! And good luck,🍀0 -

What television program and what presenter was, in my opinion, lying through his/her teeth?0 -
What television program and what presenter was, in my opinion, lying through his/her teeth?
I think this is a very good question, if this is being 'advertised' as part of a TV information programme then it should be reported.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As I posted before, Paypal seem to be doing the right thing now by refunding-it maybe how you word your claim, I spent ages researching legal stuff and managed to do it successfully. I was prepared to go to court, byt didn't have to. Here is part of my claim to them and Paypal-
under the Unfair Trading Regulations Act 2008 I am entitled to a termination of contract and full refund as the services you provide do not match the contract I entered into online, and that under the Misrepresentation Act 1967, you have made false claims that induced me into entering said contract.
Am happy for anyone to PM me for more info.0 -
Sorry-am new to forum posting and wanted a header so am repeating previous post.
AM HAPPY TO HELP PEOPLE GET REFUNDS -got all my money back in June by legal sounding emails. Here is my legal argument-
'under the Unfair Trading Regulations Act 2008 I am entitled to a termination of contract and full refund as the services you provide do not match the contract I entered into online, and that under the Misrepresentation Act 1967, you have made false claims that induced me into entering said contract'0 -
Spent the best part of the day trying to get some money back from those scammers at swoggi!
I just want to warn other potential victims, like myself, to avoid it and save their money!
What I have failed to realise when I signed up, hoping to get a cheap iphone accessory, is that the money I was spending in order to get credit for my account, was in fact going to waste.
As they informed me when I asked for my account to be deactivated and claim my money back:
"You purchased a Bidpackof £58.00. With these credits you were be able to participate to auctions on Swoggi" (copy/paste from the e-mail they sent me)
Meaning that, what I thought was going to be used in order for me to buy an item, was paid to swoggi as for me to have the "privilege" to place ..bids!
When my £58 run out, I could no longer place another bid and therefore, was no longer able to participate in the "auction"!!!
Guys, long story short, avoid those scammers... Will save you money, frustration and the sensation of feeling like a complete moron!0 -
I consider myself to be wise when dealing online but i got caught in this scam believing PayPal would deal with decent companies. Im afraid after getting caught this morning and bidding for an I Pod (soon realised that it was a waste of time) Swoggi site managed to relieve me of £58.
I have registered a complaint with Paypal and have forwarded my concerns but not holding out for any refund. (still had plenty of points left on leaving)
We learn by our mistakes however PayPal have lost credibility as far as I am concerned.0 -
Would like to find out the best way to obtain a refund.0
