We downsized when we moved here just over a year ago and the garage was full to bursting with all the [STRIKE]clutter[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]and[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]rubbish[/STRIKE] precious stuff we couldn't find room for. We had intended to have a grand sort out after we moved but then dh became ill and it got put on hold. The clutter built up and up and it was really getting me down.It had got to the point where I often wanted to use something I knew was in the garage somewhere but it was impossible to find and the garage was so packed we could hardly get in there anyway! The Robinson and Tassimo stashes didn't help much either!:D:o
ds1 and dd offered to come and help me sort it all today. I got a lovely surprise when ds2 turned up for a surprise visit to join in and help too. The rain held off and dh and I were able to sit out in the sunshine and sift through lots of boxes while our children did all the heavy lifting and built us some shelves (I found a good deal on a set of metal shelves from Monster Racking).
DD even cooked us all some (glitched) bacon rolls for lunch!
I usually find decluttering extremely unpleasant and stressful but it felt so lovely to have all my 'babies' home and for the whole family to be working together that I actually enjoyed the day. It's great to be able to walk into the garage and know where things are - I feel so much better for making a huge dent in my clutter too.
As the perfect end to a great day, I cooked us all a lovely roast beef supper (glitched of course)

I'm fine thanks fairclaire - I had a very tiring but satisfying day as our (adult) children helped us sort out the garage. :j:j I am a terrible hoarder as I hate to throw anything away that I think might 'come in useful' one day!
