PCN Company Claim POPLA Rejected Claim

Options
Hi all,

Received a PCN from May last year. I followed steps I had seen on here and disputed this with the company who issues the fine and then went through POPLA. I recently (about a month ago) received a letter from the company to say that, now POPLA have rejected my claim, I need to pay the fine, which has risen from 30, to 60 GBP. I have not received any communication from POPLA and have since received a letter from I.C.C. Legal Services with 'Notice of Legal Proceedings' to say the fine is now 90GBP and they will take the matter further.

Any advice? Should I be worried? Or should I ignore?

Thanks!

Liam

Should add that the original parking notice came from Car Parking Partnership.

Have you tried contacting POPLA to see if they have come to a decision?

You need to contact popla if you haven't had the decision sent to you . As for this lot taking you to court, that is not going to happen, they are not on the list of companies going to court in the last 18 months.

Thanks everyone! Yes, got the evidence pack, just not heard from POPLA.
So only Car Parking Partnership can take me to court?
I will contact POPLA, but not sure I still have the original details, so no reference. I, like some others I have read on here, had read some pre-2013 discussions and completely discarded everything I received. What would I need to be able to find a decision?
Sorry Redx - slip of the keyboard! :)

Probably name, address and postcode, then the car reg number. And only the parking company can take you to court, the debt collectors are completely powerless so just ignore them. As I mentioned they don't do court.

Thanks Stroma. So the debt collectors are completely powerless? I don't need to send them a letter? Or worry about them at all?

No unless you want to send them a letter denying the alleged debt and to hand it back to the ticketers. Debt collectors are a waste of space, and a waste of trees by the volume of junk mail they send.

Won't happen - highly unlikely but you lost at POPLA so they must think you are a soft touch.

Shame to hear you managed to lose at POPLA though, unheard of on here. You really missed a trick if you just send a normal appeal about 'what happened' which would of course LOSE. We have template appeals, you could have won with about 15 - 20 minutes reading, copying & pasting at POPLA stage, like all these linked on this thread have reported, it was easy:

Now you'll be getting more pink ICC letters and threats to drown your cat for MONTHS! Search the parking forum for ICC or CPP as keywords, see how common the daft letter chain is. If ever you get real court papers don't ignore those. Keep ALL letters for years just in case you ever need them as evidence if CPP ever try a claim within six years. Very defendable. Very rare.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
