What's the bet there'll be yet another 'missive unexpected bill help!' Post in a few months when the child download from one of those 'free' adds.
And who's bank account will the iPhone be linked to? For those in app purchases and general use of iTunes?
iTunes needs a card added as payment, what's to stop your daughter racking up a bill with in app purchases or expensive app purchases?
no it doesn't - i recall adding a card for payment to register my account on itunes, but then I deleted the payment details. I only use itunes vouchers to top-up.0 -
Tesco are grand. My cousin has a £10 per month sim only. He regularly uses his 2gig of data. The phone just won't access the internet. His bill has never been a penny over £10.
having a quick look on the Tesco mobile site, £10 a month only gets you 500mb of data now. To get 2gb, you need to pay £15 per month with Tesco mobile.0 -
i give up-speaking to a 9 year old is like speaking to my cat
they may not intentionally do anything but it will still happenWhat goes around-comes around0 -
I sell phones for a living this as an absolutely rediculous idea. Would you let your child walk around with 300 quid in notes of course you wouldn't he would lose it / have it stolen within a couple of weeks.
The screens are very expensive to replace and there's a good chance they will lose it or be looking at things they shouldn't.
Why is a 9 year old dictating to you that she NEEDS an iPhone. What else will she NEED over the next few years. S3 mini for instance is 110 at carphone at the minute then 10 quid a month on pay and go go. If they have that for a couple of years look at the 2-500 quid handsets.
I can't count the times iv reccomended not to go for an iPhone for a kid to then be met by the parent saying as it's in a contract it have to replace it despite offering insurance. Or they had a 600 quid bill and it's o2s fault as there 500 quid phone on a contract that you have to be over 18 for isn't child friendly.0 -

An even better analogy would be for the OP to get a credit card for the 9 year old with at least £1000 credit available and then with a permanent marker writing PIN xxxx on the card and give it to the child to carry around every day.====0 -
I wouldn't be buying an iPhone for a NINETEEN year old, never mind a NINE year old. Unbelievable.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

As daughter already has an ipad, can't you skype (or something similar) when you want to contact her OP?Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

It is actually far worse than that. There is a chance that a credit card with pin might stay in her pocket.
With an uncapped Iphone, whenever she uses it she is advertising it to everyone around her. So perhaps it is more like putting the credit card with PIN around her neck for all and sundry to see.0 -

Their sim only offers do change often.
I signed up last month. Pay £10 and get 1 gig. And if I remember correctly you're given the option of adding an extra gig of date to your contract for £2.50 when you get to checkout.Sigless0 -

Didn't realise that.
Still OP will have to keep topping up with iTunes vouchers if his daughter wants to buy any apps etc.Sigless0
