i dont understand why you got in touch with b and q, what do you want them to do about it

i understand it happened on their premises and you can maybe get the drivers details from them, would it be a civil matter and this is why the police cant get involved

if you get his details, get a solicitor or cab to sort it out for you
  • How is it irrelevant to B&Q? They will almost certainly have a policy regarding their employees conduct when on work premises or when wearing branded uniforms.

    Just to update you -

Yes he was wearing the black b&q t-shirt.

I've heard nothing back from the complaint thing, I'm sure they must have said something to him though as several members of staff saw it happen and comented about him driving off. I'm going to leave it if I don't hear back off them. I feel like I acted a bit over the top, it would definitely be different if he'd caused me any damage but I was only p'd off about him not stopping and I'm sure it's not worth the bad karma of going out of my was to get him in trouble, besides I have to shop there as well.

Thanks for the replies (well the helpful ones anyway). I'll update if I hear anything back off them.

Why aren't you phoning the police to report an accident where the driver failed to stop? Yes, B&Q have a small role to play in that it was one of their employees in full work gear BUT you need to be concentrating on contacting both the police and your insurer to report an accident...

A "dont break the law policy"? I dont know about that. OP you dont seem to realise that the law was broken. Police needed to be called. But never mind.
  • I've worked for supermarkets before and they have very specific policies regarding their employees conduct when wearing work uniform, in and out of the workplace, whether breaking the law or not. It makes perfect sense, if you get into a fight in the street or racially abuse someone while wearing a Tesco's uniform, it hardly looks very good on the company, does it?

Most B&Q employees are lowly-paid, the driver is probably worried that the damage to your van was worse than it is. Maybe he was expecting Insurance premium increases and dreading more expense. There could be many reasons why he failed to stop. Why do some people here apportion blame to people without knowing the truth? Seriously, OP, let it be.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

So in effect, what you are saying is if someone is low paid, then they shouldn't stop at the scene of an accident in case they have to pay increased insurance premiums? :rotfl:

So you've listed the reasons why a cowardly unscrupulous cretin might fail to stop, how about some reasons why a right-minded, honest person might do so?
