My previous cat had this - her blood test readings were three times high i.e. if 10 was high she had 30, if 30 was high she was over the scale above the measurement of about 100 !! She used to howl in the evening - needing to go out for water. She wouldn't drink tap water.
She became sometimes very reluctant to eat, but it helped with the 'thirst' to add warm water to her food sachets - so it was almost like a soup - which she went for.
The other thing that saved her, was fish fingers, seriously, fish is neutral in taste nothing to upset the stomach. We would m/wave a couple, take the breadcrumb coating off, and she happily have them - after ignoring everything else.
Sometimes it doesn't matter what, but they must it something.

At some point you will have to admit defeat, but in the meantime good-luck.

  • Thanks.. not sure about the admitting defeat bit though?

Fred eats like a horse - at the beginning he did eat Hills k/d, Animonda k/d and Royal Canin k/d but he is not so keen on any k/d now and frankly I am not surprised as they all look very "unnatural" and absolutely stink.

So I cheat him and mix 1 k/d with one Felix - at the end of the day it is better he eats something then goes hungry and believe me Fred WOULD rather go hungry than eat what he does not like.

Seriously, someone should make the k/d food more appealing.... sighhhh

I said about 'admitting defeat' in the sense tat CKF is incurable - therefore - IMHO - the question will be - 'what quality of life' can the cat enjoy! And can you see if the cat is in discomfort.
It can depend on what sort of blood test figures you've been given - are these manageable?
We had just moved house from a small terrace with a garden that was about 12' long, to a semi with one that was more like 80' long, so we were at least glad she had two summers to enjoy the new garden - without being bothered by neighbourhood cats.

  • At the moment Fred does not look/behave to be unwell at all.

In all honesty he looks the best of all my 4 cats best shiny fur etc...

Hope he stays like that for as long as possible
