What you think of Integra linked above?
As it is from Animonda, I am hopeful he will eat it...
How is cheddar and or raw looking with his kidney issues? Give more? Stop giving?

I don't know about cheddar....but do know that cottage cheese is often mentioned on the US sites as it is a good low phosphorous form of protein. try and find one that is NOT low calorie as the fat is a good source of calories for him.gettingready wrote: »What you think of Integra linked above?

Actually I do know that the k/d dry foods actually up the fat content of the food in place of protein as they consider that is better for the cat.
As for raw...well, you know I am biased in that direction ie the idea that quality of protein is more important than actually limiting protein, certainly as this stage in his life.
Did you read this article I posted previously?

Thanks PP, yes I did read it but with my lifestyle and number of pets at home I am really unable to feed raw alone... xxx
I have now ordered some Integra (Animonda) and will try Fred on this.
Raw meat etc I was asking as a snack only.
Thanks for the tip about cottage cheese - will get him some.
I feel so sorry for him when the 3 other boys are munching on treats and he is just not interested in any cat treats at all - human food.. anytime though...
My boy

GR, I know you don't want to move to 100% raw, but the information in that article suggests that as long as the food or snack is balanced by the inclusion of natural bone for calcium, that raw should be fine.0

Not sure if it's the same as the Hills food you would have to get for Fred but I have some pouches of Hills CD Stress that I was given free by our vet to try Salem on if you would like a couple posting to you to try him on rather than forking out a small fortune to find he won't eat them.0

Thanks Lisajane but too much trouble for you, no worries.

Arrrrggh!
I've just ordered 2 new ones for Archie & Mia - one of the additional headaches of them being totally separated (aside from the everyday cat juggling) - is having to buy 2 of absolutely everything ... even things they *should* be able to share *sigh*
Hopefully Fred will see the others using the fountain and start to use it!
(I put a mini ice pack under Archie's food bowl last night - we've been having problems with keeping it fresh with it being warm as he grazes - and you'd have thought there was an alien under it ... he sat & looked at it for ages, circled it (to make sure it couldn't escape) ... silly cat!)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

When my old cat was diagnosed with CRF I bought him a fountain, and it took one or two 'demonstrations' from me :rotfl: for him to get the idea, although he'd only use it after that if he was forced to. Probably because his habit was to drink from the bathroom tap. We also fed him raw food in conjunction with fortekor and a phosphorus binder (when he'd tolerate it), and after losing so much weight, he put loads back on and his kidney values improved.
Our current cat has been diagnosed with the same thing and she eschews the fountain in favour of stagnant puddles and containers of water, so we just leave a cup out for her instead. She lost a lot of weight, too, until she started eating raw again. Now she's a fat cushion with legs.0 -
Fred is a big boy, it over 6kg. He loves his food, has not lost apetite or weight.
Hope it continues for long time....
He had a sachet of Royal Canin this morning no problem. Then a tray of Integra.
I plan to give him 2 trays of Integra plus 1-2 sachets of Royal Canin per day - will see how it goes - if he needs/wants more or less.
