Can you split the hijackthis log into 2 or 3 posts? may simply be the size of the log :-/

have you tried running the various cleanup tools from safe mode (with networking)?

it would be useful if people would post on the site feedback section when they hit this hijackthis log posting problem - it's been going on a long time now, the more people who mention it the more likely they will fix it.

if the problem is chrome only, a hijackthis log may not show anything relevant

for a quick and dirty malware running check run this, http://live.sysinternals.com/procexp.exe click options, virustotal, tick checkvirustotal.com, then see the virustotal column

The symptoms you describe are typical of a rogue browser extension, use ccleaner, tools, save to text file, to list all your installed programs, and list all your browser extensions for every browser
