Why, I service Mazda's all the time and have access to the DSR.0 -
Why not. An independent should still be able to access and update your car's onboard computer, if not then your really wouldn't want to have them near your car anyway.
That's great if I'm wrong then.
Can most indie print out the service history too?
My local old-school guy says he is unsure.
I was only going to get them to do the brake pads anyway.
But as you say if they are out of touch then best to get someone who is fully familiar with the system.0 -
They usually have to register with the manufacturers scheme but in Mazda's case it doesn't cost anything.
ETA Sorry, yes, I can print all past services.0 -
my Mercedes has NO service books
Merc service center will print out the record if requested

If you read the OP's post, you will see that this particular car does have a Service Book0

I didn't see that in the OP's first post at all.
I can't tell from this thread whether a Toyoya Yaris owner is normally supplied with a service book.
The dealer said they would give him a service book when he called in for the first service.
My BMW doesn't have a service book and I don't want one.
But if I ask they will stamp one up and give me.
Before I sell the car I'll just get an up to date print out of all the work done on the car including any warranty jobs etc.0 -
If the Yaris didn't come with a service book and it is supposed to come with one then it could be a problem if my previous experience is anything to go by.
I had the same thing happen with a VW (luckily it was a company car). It took me about 4 months of constant reminders to VW before I got one. The problem was the original book would have contained bar codes and stickers added as the car was built so it wasn't just a case a getting a new blank book.
Toyota may be different.0 -
"I have checked online and its a 10,000 mile service interval"
That's 10000 miles/12 months whichever occurs first.
The service book should have been handed over with the car. I'd be contacting Toyota Customer Services rather than the salesman fobbing you off.
Yes, the book contains what is required at each service, interim and full, plus extra items (Additional Inspections) like gearbox oil change, belt changes, coolant changes etc.
It is Service and Warranty so contains details of the warranty. The last page has a Quality Certificate confirming the vehicle has been prepared in accordance with Toyota's recommended criteria, signed and stamped.
Inside the front cover is the vehicle identification details.
So push them for it now, not at your first service in 7/8 months time.0 -
Is it not the last couple of mages of the Yaris Instruction Book, which you will have got?0
