No service book with new car
Hello,
I bought a brand new car (Toyota Yaris) in January and everything was fine, however I did not get a service book with the car.
I spoken to the salesman about this on his after sales call and he said not to worry and ill get a service book when I come in for my first service. Thought nothing of it, however I have just thought that I do not know my cars service requirements. I have checked online and its a 10,000 mile service interval so I am not worried now. I am just thinking is the salesman setting me up for something or is there something untoward going on in not having the service book immediately.
Thanks

You'd be missing any stamps for pre delivery inspection, but as long as you can evidence service history it shouldn't be a problem.0

Do you actually get a physical book now?
Mazda haven't provided one for at least 8 years. You get a full printout of the dealer service record whenever the car is serviced.
Or you can go into the dealership and request one at any time.
I imagine any main dealer for any make could provide that sort of printout, for their make, and it would include the PDI.0 -
You are being seriously short-changed
The Service Book doesn't only list the Mileage/Time service schedules, but also a fully detailed list of every item of work to be carried out on each particular service.
To preserve the residual value of your car, a Main Dealers stamp on each and every 'Carried Out' service page is vital
In your position I would drive the car back to the dealers, park it across the entrance to the workshop and refuse to remove to move until I had the Service Book in my hand ( I once did this with a brand new Renault that had an overheating problem - It was fixed in 10 mins)0 -

the mazda thing, great if you use main dealer service every time. Not so great if you want to go off to indies and third parties.0

The complete service history of my car is contained in the chip on the fob which is updated in sync with the ECU.
Dash display says what needs to be done next and gives a date/mileage when it needs to be done.
As said - not much good if you want to go 'off piste' and get a non-dealer workshop to do the work.0 -
My BMW doesn't have a service book.0

Why not? Do you know anything about the Mazda DSR system or are you just making up scare stories?
Let me quote to you from Mazda. " independent garages, including companies like Halfords, can register to use the Mazda DSR system allowing full service histories to be maintained"
From time to time I have had to use an independent garage and never had a problem with them not being able to access or update my Mazda DSR.0 -

What a complete load of twaddle.
Service books have been replaced with Digital Service Records for quite a few manufacturers now.0
