I also heard scores for Grosvenor are down. Possibly due to increase in applications for starthearn.
It's worth making contact to all local schools. You never know0 -
Thanks everyone information, I'll ring Grosvenor first thing tomorrow morning , hopefully my son could put on their waiting list. I think it's all my fault on the whole process, I just too confident that we will get a place in Campbell, so just put 2 more school ( Lagan and Ashfield)after that, but sometime things can turn out unexpected!
I learn a lesson.0 -
And make sure you contact the schools regularly. Dont just call once and leave it that. Keep on with them even if it's through the summer.0

Co Down Mum, Mummyglam thanks for the advice.
I'll update tomorrow and let yours know.0 -
If anyone is ringing a school to ask what the lowest score accepted was, remember to say 'excluding special circumstances cases' as these cases will be lower than the cut off for the other pupils. You could also ask how many SC cases were admitted and what were their scores. Schools will usually give this info.
If people then post the info on here, that might be helpful to parents still trying to secure a place or to decide what waiting lists to put their childs name on.0 -
Anyone with SC accepted will have been considered for a score uplift. If they were accepted for a score uplift the school will decide what score is acceptable based on their primary school tests/peers etc. The new score then becomes the official result.0

Hi am hoping someone will be able to help me - having been watching the forum but haven't posted before.
DD was allocated her third choice school - is there anyway that I can find out why she wasn't selected for her first choice (first is a non-selective, second choice was selective and she didn't meet the grade) - is it as simple as ringing them up or sending an email or is there another road I need to go down. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.0 -
Emanlu, ring them quicker way to find out and headmasters usually leave these days free for queries. Ask if there is a waiting list and if u could put your child's name on it.0

to help if everyone posts what the lowest score they know of for each school then this would help those that are trying to secure a place.
I know that unless the school is actually rang we wont know the lowest score, but for eg. we know Bloomfield took an 86, Campbell did not take an 81. All this information will help those families that are in turmoil today trying to sort their child out. My heart goes out to them, so please everybody let us do our bit to help them. I agree with the Mum that says just do not ring and get name on waiting list and then leave it at that, keep ringing all through the summer and even if your child starts another school keep ringing every few weeks if you are wanting to move the child. Do not lose hope as there are always places in schools for Year 9, so it is worth ringing and ringing and ringing! Keep us all updated. Good luck to all those today ringing round, I hope you get your child into a school that you and they can be happy with0 -
Hi all, im in exact same position! My boy wasn't allocated a school either.....safe to say im gutted but wont go down without a fight. I had the same unfortunate experience on the first year with my daughter.....and fought tooth and nail to get her a grammar place. She is now very successfully passing all GCSE's
I have spent all morning on the phone, so here is some info:
Inst: took down to 95
Wellington: 95
Campbell: 90
Grosvener: Not sure, but am currently filling in application for waiting List.
My son got 87, with special circumstances attached.
I hope this helps, look forward to hearing from everyone......keep positive. I know from experience it can work out well. Just cant believe im going through it AGAIN.
