    August Birthday AQE score 98.

    49, 50 and 46 which give a raw score 0f 78

I feel all of the children in her age group must have scored high as 78 is a pretty good score. I remember hearing about another child on this forum (correct me if I'm wrong) who in a previous year scored 96 in AQE with 72 being the raw score. I'm delighted with her score though and all being well it will secure her a place in her first choice school.

    Hi tines2
First of all, very well done to your DD and I hope she gets her school of choice :).

I just noticed that her scores are very similar to my DD a few years ago. Your DDs best 2 papers added to give a raw score of 99 (or 77% :T) yet her AQE score was a point lower at 98. Same thing happened to my DD, her AQE score was lower than her raw score - my theory is that the AQE score given to older kids may go lower if the other kids they were measured against (in their birth month) tended to do better - who knows?

A very steady little lady you've got there Mrs mum !
    Congrats to you both :T:T
But I'm more confused than ever as her AQE score is 2 points higher than her best 2 papers added together!

I'm looking forward to seeing the stats all collated when someone posts the promised analysis on here :rotfl:

Thanks flymetothemoon. I didn't think the AQE score was made up of the two scores just added together. On the letter that came from the AQE office it stated "It is important to note that a standardised score cannot be calculated by simply adding together the two highest raw scores". It is really good that people are posting their raw scores, it can hopefully benefit parents of next years children.
  • Got raw scores today.

    Sept birthday

    52, 48, 56. AQE 111.

Also received a cover note to say AQE score was not simply the two highest scores added together and that the age standardisation was a very thorough and robust system. An A4 page was enclosed giving an explanation of the process but I was no wiser by the end of reading it. The points covered were mentioned by thesecretteacher before< but the whole thing is so complex I have no hope of following it!

the RAW scores are just the best 2 from 3 that were posted. % scores have been posted from all.
  • Thank you for posting the scores. It really does show that children are compared with pupils in their birth month and not the whole year as although July, Sept & October birthdays showed raw 116 an 91% there was a three mark difference between Sept and July & October.

All the children worked so hard and I really hope they go to a school they like, but with all schools AQE may open the door but they have to work hard no matter where they go and from my friends, children in non grammar schools can do just as well.
  • July 43 46 49 75% AQE 96
  • Daughter May Birthday

    AQE score 112

    Raw Scores 56, 55, 49

Hope this helps, haven't seen any May scores yet.
  • Thanks sca11ion for collating this data and for everyone sharing their results. I find it fascinating as I have 2nd child going through this in a few years and I think if anything this forum has alleviated most of my fears re age standardisation. I know it not as simple as adding the top 2 raw scores but by looking at all the results the AQE score seems to be very close to this which is reassuring!
