Oh, just found the date for the Education Board. It is Friday 13th February, which is quite concerning as we are not having our meeting with the Primary School Principal until 12th, just the day before.

    Hi Mrs Mum
I would request the school to change the date unless you will be hand delivering your form. My DD's PS have arranged these meetings on the Monday, right after the results.

Was just wondering has anyone filled in one these forms before?
Is there room on it anywhere to add some additional information or is it just a basic form where you just put the child's name, results and school choice, etc?

Hi, our school had an hour long meeting in Jan to go over the forms.
You need to go through the books you were given from the ed boards with all the criteria.
We were given a sample form for us to keep.
You fill in name result etc.
We were then advised to comment for each school according to their own criteria. Eg. For one school it could be sibling at school, whilst if all girls/ boys school it could be eldest girl/boy. For anyone who this is their eldest child, then you state eldest child.
We were advised to give details of sibling eg Tom Smith 1E 2003 left 2008 etc
Our school have interviews on the Mon/Tues after results.
There are a couple of lines to write this info.
    Hope this helps.

Yes, they do that. Remember that DENI is opposed to academic selection, in principle.
So they chuck little obstacles into the process, like trying to influence schools to not be helpful. Setting dates which are not compatible with the selection process.

Schools which don't buy the party line will still find a way to help.
  • Hi everyone I am new to this and am glad to have some feedback from other mummies in the same boat! My son sat GL assessment and found English very hard and said struggled to answer the comprehension questions, he said it was nothing like he had practiced either at school or tutor, he had been doing very well up until that and was well prepared for it, but feels now has not done enough to get a grade. Anyone else nervous as we approach results day, and any feedback on the test would be greatly appreciated! X

My postman is actually my mate & he has confirmed there are no extra stipulations put on them to get results out earlier. It just depends on their run & how quick they want home lol. You can however request your mail be left at the local post office for collection from 9am.
Some days my mail is with me before 8am, others it's 4:30pm

    Hi Luckymummy

My daughter said the same that the English was the harder of the two papers. Roll on 31st.
  • Hi MaggieMc thank you for your feedback, glad to hear my son wasn't only one found English hard, though still feels he hasnt done enough to get a grade! Does anyone know how the grading system works raw score, standardised score etc! Any help would be appreciated x

Thanks MaggieMc and RikM. Phoned the school today and they assured me that they will post the forms at lunchtime on the 12th and that the education board will have them for the 13th! Feeling a bit nervous that they are leaving it so late.
  • Hi luckymummy, my daughter did the GL and AQE and also found the GL really difficult, more so than the AQE. They will get their raw score, standardised score and grade but don't think we have any way of estimating these as it will depend on how all the other kids have done. It's going to be a nerve wracking 11 days
