  • So far we have seen Grosvenor and Methody and my daughter is really keen to go to Methody. She had been doing really well in the test papers and has an older sister already there, so fingers crossed.
We have still to c Victoria, Lagan and Wellington college, as she just wants to make sure.
  • MotherEarth we were at Methody of Thursday and I was impressed by their open night but first choice still looks like BRA. We're going to Victoria too then she can decide which will be second and third choice. I Thought it was a much better experience being shown around the school by pupils than being left on your own to wonder.

Hi 3Mum,I take it you mean the non grammar selection uses the surname letter?
In that case we would be last with B,!!!!in typical:(((
Hopefully she will get in with her test results,so won't need to worry, but it's good to know these things.

Happy New Year everyone. We have 4 schools to visit, 3 grammers - Dalriada, Coleraine Girls, Dominican College and the local High school. All open nights are next week so will be busy, but want to keep options open so must be done! Sort of wish we had the results first so we could just concentrate on the one or two daughter has a chance of getting a place in.

What was the score at Dalriada I was unable to attend sick child ?

  • Veggie Northern Ireland we were also really impressed with Methody on the open night, as u say the pupils showing u around, definitely made a difference.Roll on this week and that will be the open nights finished for us,apart from Victoria which is the following Saturday as this would b my daughters third choice.
  • Hi Cherryscone Dalriada was very busy as I'd expected. I think with the huge interest now in the school they should have a couple of open nights to reduce the crowds slightly. As expected the principle said he imagines the intake score may be higher this year due to the imalgamation of Inst and Coleraine High, but couldn't give any hints yet as to what this might be. He advised once scores are out to contact him for more info. He also said the school are hoping to increase their enrolment numbers in the next few years though this is of no consolation to this years applicants😞

Anyone know if Royal Mail makes an effort to get the results distributed early? Our postman usually doesn't come until 12pm on Saturdays.

MaggieMc I am hoping that Royal Mail do, cause last Saturday it was late afternoon when our post arrived, which wouldn't normally bother me when the post arrives but I don't think my nerves, never mind my daughters, could hold out til Saturday afternoon!

Does anyone know what date the Education Board has to have received the Transfer Forms with the preferences for schools?

Oh, just found the date for the Education Board. It is Friday 13th February, which is quite concerning as we are not having our meeting with the Primary School Principal until 12th, just the day before.
