This way above my understanding, (I have a maths degree but have given up on technology, at my age), but I'll ask my son who is a computer tech to look into these things for me.0

Oh - one last thought. Have you actually managed to pair with the speakers at all?[/QUOTE]
The deputy showroom manager at Richer Sounds tested the speakers, with his MP3 player, before doing my demo, using RCA leads, but failing to link to the speakers.
I can get the laptop to display the speakers as a possible 'target, am given the option to choose files (though I don't see a way of playing via Spotify or cd in the drive). The laptop says 'sending files' but the white light on the speakers does not go steady (it should when contact is made according to the Roth manual), but then times out as contact was not made within a certain time limit.
Medion tech service is not being very helpful, by not answering questions, unless pushed, but in the last email the tech said
Quote :'You would need to check with Spotify to see if the program supports streaming over bluetooth but normally it would be a case of anything that is able to be played through speakers should be able to play over bluetooth.'
I have asked for instructions, but so far no reply. I may try asking on their facebook page , as that brought an offer of help from Roth.
I have also been on an audio 'expert' site CETO and one person has replied saying that connections are difficult, if not impossible.0 -

So it has nothing to do with CDs etc. It's just that no one has managed to even pair the units.
In the meantime, purchase the dongle in my link, as we know that it supports A2DP and I'm reasonably sure that I can get you up and running with it. It's just £2 and at least we'll be on the way to a solution.
Whereas it is unclear if it is supported by the Intel 2230 combination card. Though we do know by looking here, that pairing is possible.
It just seems that you are using the wrong method to pair them.
What options are given for Bluetooth in the Intel N2230 application software?
Perhaps the thread above will give you some pointers.0 -

When he arrives, let me know. We can troubleshoot together.
I think that most likely it is a BT Stack issue. The Windows 7 BT Stack is insufficient. It could also be that the Intel/Medion software(Drivers also available from the Intel website) in post #10 is limited(waiting for your son to confirm).
If this is the case, the solution is a superior BT stack and at the most, the suggested USB module.
Meanwhile, I had a look at the Medion/Intel software linked to in post #10 and found this.
So make sure that you actually have that software installed. If you don't, it will default to the Windows 7 BT Stack, which is too limited.0 -
I'm pretty sure that "sending" the files is not the way to go about it. I could be wrong though, as I've never tried it.
If everything is working as it should then you just have to play the files in Media Player or whatever you have selected to play audio files
1. Have you got a bluetooth symbol showing in your system tray (bottom right hand corner of the screen)?
(smallest I could find)
If so we are getting there, if not then bluetooth is not active.
2. Assuming it is then double click on the icon. A window should open, showing paired devices. Are your speakers shown?
2a. If so, right click on the icon and select "properties". Another window will open. Select the "services" tab. Does it show "Audio Sink'? Is it ticked?
2b. If not select "Add a device" from the top menu bar. Are you speakers shown? If so, double click on the icon and they should connect (ensure that the speakers are on and in pairing mode). Then go to 2a.
If you encounter a "no" at any point come back and we will take it from there.0 -

There is a PDF within my post #15.0 -
I'm waiting for my son to sort things for me (hopefully this weekend), but gather from a tech forum that the problem is with Windows 7 not supporting A2DP However, someone managed to find a driver download which worked for them.
No Bluetooth icon showing, so perhaps the drivers will make that happen.0 -

The Driver is in zenmaster's post #10.0 -
It has nothing to do with Win 7.the problem is with Windows 7 not supporting A2DP
The problem is either driver or hardware related.
Zenmaster provided a potentially suitable driver in post #10, and if that doesn't work then go with the suggestion made by NiftyDigits if you really need to connect your speaker using BT.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

It is not a 'potentially suitable Driver. It is the Driver for the machine.
Without it, many functions of the hardware will simply not work, as the built-in Driver in Windows 7 is limited.
Actually wondering why the Medion/Intel Driver is not installed in the first place. It could be that it is installed, but the OP appears resigned to letting her son take over. So no coherent replies for the time being.0
