I have a Bluetooth enabled laptop and recently bought a set of Roth Powa 5 speakers. I took my laptop to Richer Sounds for a demo and the assistant couldn't get my laptop to play a cd via Bluetooth. He was puzzled as his MP3 player worked and suggested that perhaps playing cds this way was not possible.
I have contacted Roth, who say they have had a few customers (all on Windows 7) who were unable to use Bluetooth, suggesting I contact Microsoft. Meanwhile they have contacted Medion (my laptop makers) but say they are having problems explaining the problem.
I have contacted Medion, by email and they too suggest a compatibility problem, with no offer of solution.
However, chasing this up will be a waste of time, if what I suspect is true. ie Bluetooth relay cannot be used to play Spotify streaming or CDs from a computer drive; just for stored audio files (as the only stored files I have are manufacturer installed demos).
Could someone clarify for me, please ?

Laptop: Toshiba R630-155
O/S: Win 7 Ultimate x64
Bluetooth Speaker: Jam HMDX
Went through "Custom" mode to pair the devices, but accepted all the default options.
ALL sound that should come from the laptop speakers now comes through the Jam Classic BT speaker, including CD's played using WMP.
I can only conclude that the sales rep either didn't configure your machine correctly when setting the BT speaker up as the audio output device, or your hardware doesn't support BT Audio correctly.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Indeed Toshiba have their own Bluetooth Stack. I was going to suggest it if the OP ran out of other options.0

I really don't know what to do about this, if , indeed anything can be done. It's especially annoying as I was resigned to using an RCA lead, but the little tube that holds the jack in the audio out socket of the laptop, disintegrated and broke away with the RCA lead plug, meaning that is now unstable .(Medion want £100 to replace it, yet it's worth pence and they won't just sell the part).
Roth are say that the speakers are shown to be working as they accept from an MP3 player and that their Bluetooth module is the latest model, so suggest a Windows 7 problem. They have tried contacting Medion, but have not communicated since.
Medion seem more interested in charging £100 for the bit of plastic and haven't answered my twice asked questions ie Could I have instructions for playing a cd via Bluetooth and (later) is this a possible exercise ? They also say that the laptop is not at fault as it is the speakers which aren't responding (when I try to send audio files stored on it).
Can anyone suggest where I can get help, as I'm stuck in the middle ?0 -

What is the full model number of the Medion?0 -
The model is MD98112.0

Have you tried using mp3 files? I'll send you a link you one via PM if you don't have any to hand.0

There are three tracks on the laptop, which Medion preloaded as demos. Those are the files I tried to send. However, as I don't intend to use saved files (ie just Spotify or my own cds)I really need help for those.
I have just had a reply from Medion, again not answering my questions, but saying that I may need to ask Spotify if their streaming supports Bluetooth, but that anything that comes out of 'audio' (eg music from cd) should be able to be sent by Bluetooth. I have asked for instructions on how to do this, as only sending files is mentioned , but have not had any .(The manual is rather poor )0 -

All we need to know at this point are if the sample files are working. In others words are you able to output anything to the speakers?0 -
I would suggest that the laptop Bluetooth does not support A2DP which is how audio is transmitted to the output device.
It's certainly not mentioned in the manual (here) on page 51.
Check you have the latest version of the driver. If not you can find it here.
Some further information here.
Oh - one last thought. Have you actually managed to pair with the speakers at all?0 -
If, after 'pairing', A2DP is not supported by the inbuilt Intel N2200(you need to check the options included within the Medion Buetooth Driver interface for the installed Intel N2200), you can add the function by simply inserting this inexpensive USB 2.0 BLUETOOTH DONGLE costing £1.98
Within my Bluetooth Stack, it's under General > Audio Sink.0
