hi, all I did was see about reviews... and I dont even know what spam means !!
Anyway...I then had cosy homes representative call and I accepted the appointment for a free survey, everything was properly explained and I could now see from the photographic survey that highlighted the defects and problems etc.
I had the work done and used a finance option with barclays which was arranged by cosy homes and therefore I have a bank guarantee on top of the one with cosy homes, barclays wouldnt be a finance partner with cosy homes if there was anything untoward, so I am now completely satisfied with the work, the product, the installation and the end result.
Hi boxhill
Amazing, all credit to you. You have not answered the questions that were set, but come out with what sounds more like corporate cr-p than your previous post.
Equally amazing is your ability to navigate the Web, find this Forum, read the Rules, be prepared to receive PM, and not know what spam means.
I believe you because I, too, was born yesterday.0 -
hi, all I did was see about reviews and thought I would mention that I was completely satisfied, this all seems a bit complex and I dont even know what spam means !!
Anyway my roof had had no maintenance done over the years and I had initially called in a roofer to see what could be done and I was offered a remedial repair to the ridges and verges, the price quoted was rather a lot for this and a re roof was out of the question.

Very suspicious form a new poster I am afraid. Cosy happened to miraculously call you out of the blue at just the right time???????"I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -
£15 sq mtr MAX , ask them how many mtrs they are quoting for. Most 4 ned semis are under 100 mtrs Most bungalows 120-130 .
The coating is available from any good trade paint supplier and is not exclusive to any roof coaters . £120 for 20 ltrs average 4-5 cans per job. The tiles HAVE TO BE concrete never rosemary (clay). The insulation properties are designed to keep heat out not in the roof (ie Hot Countries). If they say they insulate your house they are talking less than 0.0000000002%
The process should never be done in one day or Under 5 degrees (above freezing). as the product is water based.
Any moss will grow back in 3-5 years but can be treated with soda crystals or moss treatment.
They should use an undercoat from the same company and not paint straight on to the tiles.
They can not do a double coating in a day ( in Sept-March) as it has to dry completly between coats. The fitters will try and finish it in a day.
Any re-pointing on valleys or ridges will leach lime and the coating will come off if it is not 100% dry.
Most companies use commission only canvassers, salesmen, and fitters on a square meter rate. ALL ARE SELF EMPLOYED
Do not pay £25-45 per mtr.
Other than that and before you ask, I ran a roof coating business 10 years ago and was mentioned in the Aquashield thread as one of the good guys.
Done right its good for 5-8 years and can be redone . A new roof is still better, 99% of roofs over 45 years old are heading towards a re-roof any way. (Redland state 35-45 yrs lifespan in their info).
If this is not helpful moderators can remove it with pleasure,..0 -

An excellent post, but you know, and I know, that there is one highly misleading statement contained in it.
It is probable that there are millions of roofs in the UK with Redland Roofing tiles. For years these were installed with a 100 year guarantee - this given by Redland. However, 99% of the population do not know this.
I am not aware of anyone invoking this guarantee, and even if they did it the claim might not reach the public domain. This for obvious commercial reasons.
My intuition is that Redland would be happy for people to dose their roofs with copious amounts of Cosy Home, or Aquashield, snake oil. Hence, Redland are given a golden opportunity to revoke any future guarantee claims.0 -

I was not stating that any tiles from any manufacturer would be under warranty. The whole fact is no tie company wants a replacement for replacement. I also saw many roofing companies that swore this system was 'snake oil', get on the bandwaggon and start offering it.
My point is and this is my final word:
The product is fine, the process is acceptable, its the operators of this service that are almost all dodgy, and I will stand in front of any of them and tell them that to their faces.
Even the likes of Anglian and Everest looked into this system as an add on, but decided against it due to the bad reputation caused by rogue traders.
I got out for the same reason when I saw travellers offering £500 jobs when the coating and undercoat cost more.
I also saw good work, but the job has to be done correctly and that is where the problems are.
Some guy even went to Aquashield because they were more expensive.... you can't beat that logic.0 -

I have now written 3 letters to this company, no responce to my complaint.
Instead they sent a big bully boy round to shaken me up and to make me pay up for a job that isn't even finished.
So i contacted the Advice people again!
Still heared nothing from this company...
Now when i look they have changed their company name 3 times and on some websites are registered as Dormant???
If a company doesn't finish the work you have to give them opportunity to finish it or are you not in breach of contract??
What has not been done, and why is it not finished??0 -
