Would you buy a house that didn't have a family bathroom?

A few years ago I decided not to buy an otherwise nice house because it had a tiny seperate loo with no room for a sink and the bathroom (with no loo) was at the opposite end of the house. With three young children at the time I didn't think they would bother to always go from one place to the otherto wash hands.
My friend has a similar set up in her home and when someone in their house gets a tummy bug...they all go down with it ! Could be other factors involved though !
I can think of various common medical problems which make it much preferable to have loo and bathroom combined
Now when house hunting, husband and I would only consider a place with or with potential for 2 loos.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

You don't ever get a little bit of splashback when you have a pee? Not to mention the fact you've just been handling your sweaty !!!! and balls.
Let's not get started on taking a dump, then wiping your bum and not washing your hands. That is truly gross.0 -
The idea of having a toilet in the same place where you wash your teeth & clean your body is repulsive to me.
We have a family bathroom but I clean the toilet, seat, lid, everything even the floor around it every night so that something isn't festering overnight when we go get clean in the morning. I also insist the seat is down when anyone flushes but actively enourage the use of the downstairs loo as much as possible, where I am no where near as obssessed with the cleanliness
.
When we buy next year I will def make a seperate toilet room.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

My previous house had this kind of set up with bathroom & wc. As I lived alone it made no difference to me that I didn't have a huge bathroom. When I sold the house 18 months ago it was bought by a family with 2 teenage children, so obviously isn't the sort of thing that is going to make a property hard to sell. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
My Nan's house in the US had this older setup when I was growing up (and still does). As it was a house of mainly girls who took long showers and took their time in front of the mirror, this was super.
In recent years, they put a small container of hand sanitiser on the windowsill which takes away a bit of the concern of what you're touching on the way to the kitchen sink, when then main bathroom is occupied.
I'd buy this setup in a heartbeat, I think it makes sense.0 -
I personally don't like the two rooms.
I grew up without it in a family of 6 and it never bothered us. The tiny chance someone needs to use the toilet while someone else is having a bath is minute compared to having a poky tiny toilet, which will be smelly and difficult to clean round the back.0 -
Grew up in a house like that. Much nicer not to have to smell poo when going for a morning shower.
No bother to wash hands in kitchen when bathroom was in use.
The parents added a downstairs loo later but never knocked through the bathroom and loo.0 -
In all honesty, it would put me off.
Saw a house with a separate toilet/bath combo after which I lost interest!0 -
Always room to add a sink:
