Having just caught up on the thread all the talk about slow cooked lamb has made me want to make it soon!
I had to go to Costco for stuff for work yesterday, and spent £10 on a giant tub of Ainsley Harriot spicy cous cous, a big tub of bacon and 8 packs of large pittas.
The other night I made baked potatoes and when I cut into one really large potato, I was horrified to find a whole mouse entombed in the middle of the spud! I took it back into Sainsburys and they gave me a £20 voucher - I will not be buying or eating potatoes again for AGES! I spent £16 of the voucher on toilet rolls, crisps:o, milk, chicken thighs, mince, white cabbage, red cabbage and Fairy dishwasher capsules.
I made hamburgers tonight using the Aldi brioche buns from the DM coupon offer. OMG they were super delicious - we had them with hm coleslaw and it was the best tea ever!Jane

Forgot to post my spends yesterday although I did update my total! Spent £17.82 (after the Sun £5 voucher deducted) and £11.16 in Mr Ts, so a total of £28.98 which I'm pleased with for my main shop. Have spent slightly more than I would have liked by this time in the month but still hoping to come in under budget.
Hoping for another NSD today.

year's food budget £1,9200 -
A few spends to add since the beginning of the month and I have left:
Food - £1.87
Dog - £8.90
Toiletries - £10
Cleaning and Laundry £10
I set myself a really tough target of £135 for food this month and have spent the lot! However, I have almost all the meat left I bought the first day of the challenge. I went to M&S and Mr T yesterday to buy picnic stuff for the next week as DH starts his hols tonight and we will be out most days, at my DM for 2 nights and then away in a s/c caravan for the following week. The caravan food shop comes out of my holiday spending as it is done when we get there. I will be taking a box of tins and staples though.
I will have 12 days to cater for when we get back which is going to be the problem. We will be ok for meat and frozen veg but fruit, milk and bread and sandwich stuff will make me go over.
The low, low budget was an experiment this month so I will keep at it and see how frugal I can be when we get back from our hols.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Today's update... £50.63p total spent
£31.98 at local butchers, got me 2lbs mince beef, 2lbs bacon, 2lbs pork sausage, 2lbs chicken breast, 2lbs pork steaks and a massive ham hock to boil up for the meat and also stock
£3.00 at local market egg stall, for 20 large eggs, which should last us about a week.
£15.65 at T3sco, after about £5 of various coupons and vouchers. They have peaches and plums on 75p a punnet so I grabbed a couple of those as we go through lots of fruit in this house
So total spends so far is £91.71p... which is nearly half of the monthly budget  But the meat should last us well into next month, so am very much hoping to still come in on budget.Debt Free Journey started 21.05.20170 -

Has anyone seen / heard from Florenceem recently? She lasted posted on the June GC on 23rd June, and hasn't posted in this one at all. She didn't say anything about going away or losing internet access or skipping the challenge for a while, so I've been getting a bit concernedCheryl0
