So are you going to do the morally right and legal thing and return back to sports direct and pay the correct price?

Just to preempt the question being thrown back at me - yes I would.

    I certainly wouldn't bother.

I think the OP has been punished enough for calling someone silly, so let's all move on.

All her own doing, she completely walked into this.

All her own doing? She caused the scanning mistake herself?

Well that was a twist in the tale no-one saw coming

I think you'll find Zandoni wasn't talking about the scanning problem. I've got to admit you getting it wrong isn't a twist I couldn't see coming!

hmm, when it came in at £5 cheaper I would have asked about it. If it had been a discount that hadn't been updated on the tag she could have explained that and you'd have been pleased.

But because you didn't ask, you're now happily blaming the cashier for what was obviously a mistake or a glitch on the till system.

You have two options. Either go back and pay what you owe and get a valid receipt, or keep quiet and take the terrible risk that you might not be able to return a pair of sandals you paid £11 for. It's hardly going to break the bank either way, but whining on about the 'silly' cashier's incompetency will get you nowhere.

So the self proclaimed 'honest Zandoni' wouldn't do the right thing?

I have said many times, shops do all in their power to screw every penny out of you through misleading signs etc. So if they make a mistake in pricing I consider it a little bit of pay back. No shop has ever contacted me and told me they have overcharged me, so would I bother to tell them.

I doubt that anyone would actually bother to go back even if they say they would, so yes I am honest.

Purchased some sandals today. They were £16.99. They came up on the till as £11.20 which I paid.

Anyway it is only when I got home and unpacked them (and the receipt) that I realised the receipt said "Full Millystripe Tee" and had a product code. I put the product code into their website and it is a T shirt, which is £11.20.

I do not get what the *girl* on the till has done - she has scanned a T shirt but I purchased sandals. My query is, that should I have any problems with the sandals I will not be able to take them back.

Of course, I did not pay the full amount but that is there fault, not mine.

Luckily the scanners did not go off in the shop when I left - the receipt did not correlate to what I purchased.

OP if the sandals were £11.20 and scanned at £16.99 you would have queried it. However you thought 'weyhey a bargain' and kept quiet.

To answer your query of course you can take the sandals back but you will need to do it now and not wait until there is a problem. So you decide do you want to save a fiver or do you want to pay a fiver to insure an £11 pair of shoes?

Don't blame the shop assistant, it is your fault that you left the shop without checking the receipt, and that was particularly careless of you, particularly as you used to work in retail.

Wow that was so useful, the OP needed to be told that for the 80th time :)
