You never know as my local police force all have been issued with iPhones...0

Personally, I don't think the current fine is nearly enough of a deterrent.
Up it to a minimum £500 fine and people will start to think twice about picking one up whilst driving. (and don't get me started on driving with no insurance... :rotfl:)
What gets me, is that Bluetooth Handsfree kits are not that expensive.
Mind you - I've also seen muppets driving with phones/Satnavs stuck directly in front of them in the middle of the windscreen..... :rotfl:“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Doesn't really matter whether it was a works phone or not as they don't have an exception to the law0 -
The conversation may have been 'Hi, is that xxx? Your daughter just handed me this phone so you can meet her at A&E - she's in a critical condition and if you want to be sure of seeing her alive you'd best come now'. We don't know.0

As I stated, she wasn't on a shout (not the way she was driving, no lights/sirens), she was happily chatting and laughing with the person on the other end of the call (I was probably next to her (about 3 feet away) for 2 mins)0 -
I personally dont have a problem anyone having a look at a phone or answering when they are stopped at lights or in very slow moving traffic (i'm talking the type of tailbacks where u are crawling, stop/starting (texting, facebook type things exempted)
I do think they should put the phone down as soon as the lights start changing, and no way should they be using a phone whilst it's moving, but then it doesn't matter what I think, the law says it's not allowed so that ends it0 -
This drives me mad! Even if you are in slow moving traffic you should not be on your phone. So many times do I look in the rear view mirror with some tw*t texting (or doing facebook, twitte etc) while slowly moving forward, and on a couple of occasions they have nearly gone into the back of me.
The worst I have seen was about a week ago now, young girl texting at the lights, she pulls off and goes into the outside lane - shis swerving all over the place coming within inches of the barrier on a couple of occasions. We get to another set of lights and still her eyes are down texting, we pull off she virtually drives into the incoming lane and quickly swerved back again. She finally stops behind a car thats turnning right and I come up behind her - not the best thing to do probably but I was so mad I started with the horn and was giving a right mouthful when she looked in the mirror.
What an absolute idiot!!
So many times do I see people texting while driving more often than not now. And everyones doing it, stereotypicaly you thing it will be young people but I see a lot of parents with kids in the back doing it. Things is they don't think they are doing anything wrong. The times when people have nearly gone into the back of me because they are on their phone I've turned around and shouted at them to put the phone down, but they just look at you dumb like they can't see the problem.
Is Facebook, Twitter or texting the other half about what you want from Tesco really worth risking lives for.
The punishment for this should be severe, people know the risks and know they are putting peoples lives at risk - so the punishment should be a huge fine and a long ban from driving (2 years +)11K Challenge

I am not too sure about what they're telling you there davyjp. I thought that the outcomes of disciplinary procedures at work were confidential.
I think they can tell you that it has been dealt with but I'm fairly sure they're not allowed to tell you the actions taken.0 -
Maybe the lad in the blue sports Corsa on the A55 on Tuesday thought he was going slowly enough to text. However, he was lucky that no one was passing when he swerved almost into the outside lane.
