Obviously I wasn't there so I'm not going to judge.
However you do say you "pressed" (your own words) when we now know that you were wrong (when you claimed "they can't advertise shoes for sale at one price then change the price once you reach the till").
I think you should ask yourself how you might have come across in that situation and reflect on whether you really think they were rude or were they simply providing information when they were also busy dealing with other customers.
As I said I wasn't there and you were, so only you can decide because you know what tone of voice and non-verbal communications were used on both sides.
However do bear in mind that by your own admission you were pressing an issue when you were in fact wrong.
Sometimes they might be better taking their time and giving customer their full attention rather than trying to do two things at once, but I guess they were trying to be helpful.0 -
When a shop displays a price for goods, it is not a binding offer. In legal terms it is called "an invitation to treat" rather than a binding offer. http://www.duhaime.org/LegalDictionary/I/InvitationtoTreat.aspx
So even if the goods were incorrectly priced, then there is still no binding offer.
As Tigertoonie has said, if the shop has deliberately misled you, that is a different matter. But it does not sound like it.
If you had interrupted the manager while he was with another customer, this could explain his annoyance, and possible rudeness.0 -
I was rudely told
Rudely told?
Or are you just saying rude because he told you?
If someone keeps going on (also incorrectly) then someone in charge is going to have to be assertive to draw a line under the issue or it'll go on all day. Could he simply just trying to be assertive to someone who wasn't letting up?0 -
I could go in there and move all those shoes around if I was so inclined, including moving the ones I wanted to the cheap shelf.
As people are sadly inclined to do that, shops do not have to stick to the 'advertised' price. They could have been put out wrongly, or moved by a customer. End result is the same, as they scanned at the 'correct' price.0 -
Managers do tend to get a bit moody when customers who think they know it all and are totally wrong think they can insist they are right.
Before you argue with them and get their backs up at least know what you are talking about.0 -
So how do you know the trainers you picked up hadn't been put back in the wrong place as there are no descriptions on the price labels?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I was rudely told by the manager who was serving another customer that he could refuse to sell them to us if he wanted
Well in fairness you were given a perfectly legitimate reason for why the price may be different. I can appreciate that it is pretty gutting but you were hassling a staff member and he probably just said it in an assertive sort of "we haven't got time for this so either buy or don't buy because it is busy" way which is fair game, especially since they DONT have to sell them to you! (in the past you'd get compensation by kicking up a big fuss to head office - you might still if you try though, who knows)
By the same virtue, if the cashier scanned it for 10 quid I doubt you'd be kicking up a fuss.... You'd be out that door like Usain Bolt0 -
Why don't people know that items don't have to be sold at the advertised price if it's wrong.
How many years have consumers been told this now!!!0 -
