    Enquire if " store credit" could be a gift card. You could sell that on eBay. Gift cards often sell at face value.

    never presume anything, you should of asked if they accept returns if you didn't see any signs

    If I had been there the dress would never have been purchased but unfortunately it is not something a 16yr old would think to ask

    My daughter was not made aware of this at any time during the sale and said she did not notice any signs in the shop.

    ...or given that she's a child who just made an expensive mistake, she has 'edited' events to try and get into less trouble...

    Indeed. At my local Ted Baker there are FRAMED notices at every till and the assistant has always drawn my attention to them when I've been buying things.
