Dont bother PMing the prices just stick the whole list with the discounts on here so people can tell you how ridiculous they are

You should be getting 80/85% off fictional prices. I got them to match benchmarx then told them I wouldn't pay more than x. They said yes. Reduction of £1800 just on units off original price.
  • Hi I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm considering the maple worktop from howdens. Would you recommend it.

If you're looking for a very high quality laminate worktop, you need to look at Duropal Worktops. A lot of Howdens worktops are made by Bushboard, which are ok for the money.

We had a Howden's designer visit us yesterday. I asked if they sell Duropal worktops, because I heard good things about them on here, and he didn't really answer the question. He said that laminates are given different names but they are all the same quality. Is this true or was he trying to fob me off?

    I
The charade with the massive "discounts" and sales patter really put me off.

Discounting now is purely marketing, in other words, completely fake, built in from the start to try and trick people into thinking they getting a great deal. The reality is the retailer is making the margin they wanted from the very start.

My industry is LED Lighting, go and look at the Twitter feeds for some of the biggest companies in the industry and there is a daily offer of 20%, 15% or 25% off - it's laughable and people are falling for it hook line and sinker.

I view it like this, If someone can discount their price by 20% or more consistently on a standard value order or without too much asking, they are not to be trusted.
