I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the correct part of the forum - apologies if it's in the wrong section.
My trusty old shredder has finally had it. I bought it about seven years ago from a shopping channel on TV, and it used to shred up to 4-5 sheets at a time. It had a nice big bin to collect all the shreddings, and it used a cross-cutting action.
I hope to move house soon, so am planning to go through my drawers and cupboards and shred everything I no longer need.
Any recommendations for where to buy a modern shredder, and which brand/model is good value for domestic use?

Mice are good at shredding things. A bit slow and they smell a bit, but work without electricity!0

these are ok, if you can wait for ebuyer to reduce the price again, they were £25 a few months ago, or keep watching hotukdeals, as supermarkets often have them on offer

to make them last longer, always let the motor finish the cycle before stuffing more paper in, always insert half upto half of the allowed sheets, dont put too many in at once, and clean out the gunged up paper that tends to get stuck in the middle on the underside, and oil occasionally. The weak spot in all these home shredders is the plastic around the metal teeth, too easy to snap/burst open once a build up of paper gets stuck, and the reverse function tends to increase the chances of paper getting stuck inside
or metal bucket, and a lighter.!!

My brother borrowed mine....and never gave it back. I'm waiting for LIDL/ALDI to come up with one. Otherwise I'll have to pay double to get one of similar quality.
I prefer a shredder that can work for up to five minutes at a time, not just two minutes.0 -
Amazon Basics do a shredder that is supposed to be quite pretty good, haven't got one myself though.

I have had this for almost 3 years, it shreds up to 8x sheets at a time and also shreds Cd's and DVD's. Very reliable, cross-cut, big bin.
Does your Council Waste Collection take paper? I put all my shredded paper in a cardboard box (I save the ones I get) and compress it over time, mark the Box "Shredded Paper", seal it with sticky tape and chuck it in the bin.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I've had one for some time now and find it's an easy to clean and use home shredder.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Don't shred those invoices that come with a removable adhesive address label. My shredder got gummed up with the glue from those things.0
