Thomas Cook left us without money

What have they offered you and what will you do different next time?
They have given us generous compensation. Obviously, as I have always ordered currency for collection from Thomas Cook at the airport and payment in cash, I would have to look at the other options available at the time.
I would have chosen to pick it up the day before if I had known, but we were passing the Thomas Cook shop on the way to the airport, so when plan A went wrong (Not available for airport collection) we opted to pick it up on the way. Regardless of after events, we shouldn't have had a problem at all and Thomas Cook agreed.
Won't be having a problem for some time though. Waiting for heart surgery before I can go away again.0 -

So you had the cash with you? Why didn't you exchange it at the airport?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Going to a bureau de change to pick up non-GBP cash is the equivalent to going into a bank branch and withdrawing GBP cash over the counter. If you use cash machines in the UK, why not likewise use them abroad? I don't see the reason for a different approach depending on location.0

This story makes no sense. So someone was going on holiday with a wad of pounds - yet they claim they were left on holiday with no money for a taxi despite having just gone through two airports.
I know airport exchange rates are terrible but when there is no other option available they are better than nothing.0 -

Yes, seems so, I've asked the question several times, OP seems to be unable to give a direct answer :rotfl:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
