10m bi-folding or patio door?

Because its not supporting an upper floor, only a flat roof, shouldnt be too bad. Might get away with 10 labourers lifting it and its a straight run through the garage to the back so hopefully no crane.
we were originally considering doing what you are planning with a 9m span. After discussing the costs of steels, crane etc it was going to be way too expensive!!
How are you planning to span the roof not just over the doors?
Our solution was a steel in the middle, perpendicular to the span with a small pillar steel in the middle of the span,
We ended up with 2 set of bi-folds 3.5m opening to the sides from the middle and very happy with them.
They are each 3 panes and as others have said £1k per metre was bang on what we paid.0 -
We wanted an onobstructed view within the extension without any pillars all beams showing which will I am sure raise the price b
Could you please provide an indication as to how much you were quoted for the nine meter steel beam and installation?
For the rest of the roof I suppose we were going to use another steel beam of equal length. Is that a bad move?
Can you show with a pic how's yours turned out. Sounds nice.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

sorry cant remember the exact quote but seem to remember is over £10k .
If the length is 10m what sort of width are we talking? Ours was 5m
The reason i ask is because at 4.6m (half the length) we were able to use 8 x 2 wooden beams interlocked into the steel in the middle.
Once you get over this span the price of the beams really increases.0 -
Wow that looks really amazing. I like the style, flush level door to patio and the patio itself. What is the depth of the patio and also your extension. The latter looks about 4m?
I'll post a link to the ground floor plan shortly - how did you post the image or embed it here?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

The patio is 4.5m and the internal measurement of the extension is also 4.5m
The patio used to be where the extension is! We took it up stored and relayed after using the dirt from the foundations to make it the same height. saved a few quid on skips too
to post images you have to host it elsewhere and provide a link to mse. I used http://tinypic.com/ it is free. It is actually the first time i've posted a pic ! it was actually fairly straight forward.0 -
I've used photo bucket but could never figure out how to embed the image. Only the link.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

This looks stunning, is that a roof lantern installed?
What sort of roof you have, pitched or flat? If possible can you post a pic looking at the bi-fold door from the garden?
Cheers0 -
