House price heatmap: it's still winter in the regions

A neighbour of mine has just sold their house for 8% less than they purchased it for in 2005.
Obviously I'm not in London where the media agenda is being written.
Without benefits and the goverment jobs outsourced to the regions, they would be screwed.
It's time for an independent republic of London, because these regioners are too ungrateful for my liking.
Maybe it's about time they started creating their own wealth instead of leaching on that created in London.0 -

Well I'm grateful for your awesomeness.

Well, all I will say is this ..... anyone who doesn't buy property in the blue areas is a mug!!
Such a definitive high return on your money is rarely such an absolute certainty!Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
Does anybody care what happens outside London though?
It's important to recognise that whist the media might be trying to flog newspapers and adverts on the back of a 'bubble' it's not representative of the UK as a whole.
Surprised the Telegraph bothered with this story - it's clear the frothers are only bothered about the red bits.0 -
The map is already looking quite out of date, locally to me in Bedfordshire, asking prices that are achieving a fast "sold" status are above peak with new instructions coming on at a higher level than the previous "sold" ones. Too soon for data to hit land registry but it would appear that the London influence is already extending further out.
Whether thats a bubble, recovery or otherwise has yet to be seen, local estate agents seem to be enjoying the situation either way.0 -
I only believe what Moneyweek publish. They are the ones that really know what's going on...Mallotum_X wrote: »The map is already looking quite out of date, locally to me in Bedfordshire, asking prices that are achieving a fast "sold" status are above peak with new instructions coming on at a higher level than the previous "sold" ones. in fairness, as benchmarks go, the "2007/08 peak" is, well, more than a little bubbly, no?FACT.0

Nice quoting mayonnaise.
Though a correction, if I may.....
The first quote is not mine. It's a quote from an article on the guardian.
The second quote, also, is not mine and was in response to the article posted in the thread which claimed London is in a superbubble. I highlighted the London bit in that post, but you've removed that in the bit you have decided to paste above.
Third, if you click on the posts themselves, you'll see other text (to provide the context) was removed in your quotes. You've even removed the quotation marks themselves (to show I was quoting someone else) in the first bit you quoted.0 -

Yes ok. I think we all realise the quotes were not literally yours and that you were merely quoting other sources to support your stance against HTB or to validate your misguided opinion that we're in a housing bubble.
Equally, "House price heatmap: it's still winter in the regions" is not something mayonnaise said, but it's the title of a Telegraph article.
Anything else?Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

I just don't get why you are going to such lengths to edit quotes as such and drag me into a thread which would have been perfectly fine without the nonsense.
The forum is now simply drowned out with all this stuff.0
