                    Ok.....
So I recently moved from orange to three... I had an iphone4... i went for an android galaxy note 3... I kept my number. I told the staff in store i previously had an iphone... not an eyelid was batted
After 6 calls lasting about 30 mins each... Speaking to three and apple.. NOONE can help me have my phone fixed so i can receive text messages from iphones.. I can not receive any messages from an iphone unless the user on the other end forces it into a normal text message. IMO this is totally unacceptable. If I pay £38 a month for a contract i expect to be able to receive messages from any mobile phone.. not just android phones.
What are my rights here? It doesn't look like the problem can be sorted. Apple promised me they had removed my number from the imessage system and i wouldnt have this problem. Every solution they have come up with has failed. and every call i make results in a long wait on hold and the same questions asked/same trouble shooting steps which result in no positive result.
I want some kind of compensation from who ever is responsible for killing my number. I am self employed and this is a big business killer for me. losing loads of important messages.
What can I do?

Really? Why would you think it is your new network provider's fault? These are not text messages aka sms. They have nothing to do with Apple's imessage system.
 Maybe this helps...

I have done all off these things. switched off imessage. deactivated my number. had apple staff assure me my number is removed from any apple systems.... i have gone into a store and bought something that doesn't work. that is not my problem.. it is a problem between apple and the phone network operators0

so are you saying it is totally normal for some one with an iphone to send me a message and I not receive it? I just have to live with this ? really ?0

            This is an apple issue.
Clearly iMessage is still active. I suggest contacting Apple again.0

No, but you're barking up the wrong tree. Three has nothing to do with Apple's imessage.0

You do not appear to understand what the iMessage system is... Let me explain:TimGbigtone wrote: »Ok.....

Ordinary SMS messages have been around for years and work from any mobile to any other mobile and in some cases to/from land lines as well. SMS messages are not secure, are stored on the networks servers for uncle Tom Cobley and all to read, cost a fortune if you add pictures or send them to foreign mobiles.
iMessage is a system which only works between Apple devices (not Android to Apple) and provides encrypted messaging via the cellular data channel (3G or 4G) and allows you to send messages and images between iPhones that are neither stored nor able to be read by the phone network. It is ideal to exchange free messages with other iPhones overseas at zero cost.
In order to send a message from an iPhone to your new phone, the sender should not have to make any changes as the phone will determine that iMessaging has failed and offers the option to send the message via SMS if the user agrees, this also happens when an iPhone has lost the internet connection. Your contact(s) with iPhones can change your entry from iPhone to mobile in their address book.
Note that a failed iMessage may not be sent if the sender has set their iPhone to not allow "Send as SMS" in their Messages setting.0

Disable imessage on your old iphone and stop them being sent to your mobile number.
You are responsible for this when you enabled imessage on your iphone and then didnt disable it when you stop using it.
If you no longer have the phone, have you deleted your phone from icloud?
Go to icloud.com and login to the address that is on the iPhone. Use "Find My iPhone > Devices" to erase the iPhone, then "Remove Device" from your profile.0
