You're right!
Solution is iced Efes with a couple of slices of fresh lemon.
I'm sat on the balcony now doing just that - cheers!0 -
Have a great holiday Pete! I am about to order a curry and crack open a few beers- just to celebrate booking the tickets!
How much TL to the £ are you getting there?0 -
Thanks.
TL3.4 yesterday, but the prices seem to reflect it.0 -
Are you flying to Bodrum or Dalaman?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Hiya.....how lovely for you, you must be a really nice person, holiday friendships that last are rare.
i'm hoping you can be extra nice and maybe answer a few questions for me?
I'm off to Gulluk in september too...Horizon Sky Resort just across the water. Got a lovely apartment for 10 days, penthouse, amazing views, hot tub on the balcony! I'm going on my own so i'm hoping Gulluk is as friendly as you say? I'm not worried about eating out on my own...i like making new friends, can you recommend anywhere?
Also my plane gets in at 9:45pm so i'll hire a taxi to the resort - but i want to pick up some supplies first - do you know how late the supermarket closes in Gulluk? I know its a short ride from Bodrum.
Do you think i will like Gulluk as a solo woman? I've done so much research....i'm hoping i've found somewhere i will feel safe but that is friendly too - any travel tips from anyone really appreciated! This is a first for me!
Many thanks xx :T0 -
If you want a day out from Gulluk, then it's easy enough to get to Bodrum town by dolmus. It's costs TL8 each way and takes 40 minutes.
Guvercinlik, a pretty little fishing village is about 15 minutes from Gulluk. Take the same dolmus as above.
A super day out from the Bodrum Otogar by dolmus is to Yalikavak. Not many tourists there, and it's got a gorgeous new marina, with boats worth $millions. We felt like we'd been dropped in from another planet. There also a traditional seafront part of Yalikavak, which is v.pleasant. Dolmus costs TL5 from Bodrum and takes 35 minutes.0 -
Brilliant thanks so much.......What is the Bodrum Octogar? Is it easy to recognise which bus goes where? Like the one to Yalikavak...i'd love to visit there sounds amazing.0

An Otogar is a bus station.
A lot of towns in Turkey have a main Otogar for the inter-city and long distance buses, and a separate Otogar for the local dolmus (minibus).
But Bodrum has a combined Otogar, in the centre of town. The different dolmus are colour coded and easy to recognise as they have the destination on the front. But there'll always be someone to help you out.
The Otogar is right next door to the massive covered market, and it's a very pleasant few minutes walk down to the sea-front, marina, castle, and all the touristy stuff.
This link is a great guide to all the markets...

Milas-Bodrum Airport is about 40 minutes away by road from Bodrum Town. But Gulluk is very close to the airport. The scenery on the road between Bodrum and the Airport is a big fat WOW! In fact all The Bodrum Peninsula is WOW!0 -

Hi Jilly.
Migros supermarket closes @ 10pm, there are some smaller shops but am unsure of what time they stay open to. How are you getting to Horizon sky from the airport? If you need a taxi then contact Ahmet Bozan-

http://ahmetstaxitransfer.com/
You will be getting the water taxi "Donmez1" to and from Horizon Sky (I will be on it on Sunday 31st Aug and countless other times in September) it is operated by Mehmet Donmez-
https://www.facebook.com/mehmet.donmez.566790?fref=ts
and Mehmet hosts a wonderful day trip on his boat which is a must do and see- also Mehmet is Mr Gulluk, he knows everyone and everything.
Where the boat docks in Gulluk is right next to the action see-
http://gulluk.net/ (Mehmet runs this site)
Get off the boat and go and chat to Joe and his son Berkay in the Broken Barrel bar-
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Broken-Barrel/205609349483857
They are from Chicago with Turkish heritage and again know everyone and everything. You will make many friends here.
Next door the Broken Barrel is a restaurant called "Berkan" (named after the owners youngest son) if you eat here by your self you will be made to feel very welcome, the food is excellent and it won't be long until you'll joined by lots of new friends.
There are lots of other places to eat/drink and you will find yourself discovering/exploring at ease. If you want any other tips or advise let me know and if you are there at the beginning of September we will no doubt have a drink.
ps-by the small marina there is a small garden with cafe "Gulluk Cafe" where you can sit all day and just watch the world go by by with baby ducklings, it's one of my favorite spots in the world, so peaceful even with the boats coming and going and a great place to see the locals play dominoes and interact.
Gulluk is totally safe for everyone and not at all like any of the larger Turkish resorts which is why it is loved by all those that keep going back. You are going to have an amazing time and meet and make some friends for life. I am grinning from ear to ear just typing this thinking about your holiday.0
