Summer holiday booked!

I never know if I will get the chance to go on a foreign holiday and if I do they are usually pretty much last minute affairs.
Three years ago at the last minute a friend and I booked an all inclusive through icelolly.com (never again) to Turkey. The hotel was a shambles, the food, the less said the better. However we made the best of it and the hotel was in a delightful little town and we made some great friends.
One couple intended to marry there (the town, not the hotel) and they invited us to the wedding the following summer. By this time the dreadful hotel had closed and there was no where for us to stay locally so we booked a package holiday to Gumbet (never again) and then caught the bus over for the day and for the wedding.
Last summer they gave us the use of their apartment for free and we just had to get flights there.
I have just found out that they will let us use their other apartment there in September so within 5 mins I have got tickets from Easy Jet for £208 each and even though it is raining outside here in Brighton I have a big smile on my face as I now I am going to be spending two very sunny fun filled weeks in the lovely fishing town of Gulluk in September.
It is a charming little town and not touristy at all with very few hotels but great restaurants and very friendly locals.
I am so chilled out already knowing that I will soon be waking up to this view-

No real reason for the post- I am just happy.

I'm so glad you persevered with Turkey after a few bad experiences. I am an absolute convert and go every year.
My next break is in June and then we've booked a historical tour for September.
Have a great time!!
P.S. Sounds like your friends are very kind.0 -
Should be hitting the tarmac at Bodrum in just over 72 hours.
Almost time for an Efes Limon:)0 -
The kindness of strangers can be remarkable, but that is the great thing about Gulluk, it is the friendliest place I have ever been to. The town is unremarkable, but that is it's charm.
It is a working fishing village so there is no hassle from locals like I have experienced in some of the resort towns, everyone just goes about their business and this rubs off on holiday makers, most have bought homes there so and this gives it a real sense of community.
I've never had a Efes Limon PompeyPete, but It is now on my list.
Got to love the Sunsets-

Kas is good but when you're there take a dolmus to Kalkan, my most favourite place. It's worth it just for the views on the coastal route.
I'm not a beer drinker but I love Turkish gin and tonic or cherry juice in the daytime. Can't wait for mucver (courgette fritters). Lush!
I've got 5 weeks to go!;)0 -

It's deliciously refreshing ice-cold. To get the best of the flavour make it your first drink, and possibly your second and third.:)

I've contacted my local bar there and they have never heard of it, even asked the Efes rep who said that it is no longer available.:(0 -
I'll be on a mission on Friday morning then.:)0
